Sorry, mods. Couldn't resist.
AMEN to that. And the sad thing is... Notre Dame will be in a rebuilding year next year. What a shame they could not capitalize for two years in a row. I wonder how Diggins, Novosal, and Mallory are tonight.

I am sure they are disappointed, devastated that they couldn't take care of business. I'm not feeling badly about that, not one bit.

Diggins has another year, but for Peters, Novosel and Mallory, there chances are over.

Really these are seniors who gave it their all and actually played in the final game of the season. They just happened to run into the most dominant force in WCBB. I'm not going to sit here and act as of I'm a big fan of their team, but they were a tough bunch that was fearless and really competed every time out. For that I can really respect them and their efforts these past couple of years.

ND made it to where UConn wanted to be a chance to win a National Championship. Two years in a row, they beat what has been the best Women's Basketball Program over the last 10 years or so. Congrats to ND for a great season.

Not sure if this UConn team would have done any better against Baylor tonight. It been there year since the start.

they lost this game on Sunday night ... when they all jumped around like they won it all ... they acted like that was their goal ... if they won on a buzzer beater, I could understand, but I wouldve been disappointed in UCONN if we celebrated so much after a semi-final win ...

Congratulations to ND, because they beat us 3X and were clearly better than us. But I hope they have bigger goals next year.

We seem to bring out the best in ND. Maybe its the familiarity of our rivalry. Whatever! We would have easily beaten them tonight, and furthermore the game was officiated a tad different than Sunday night.:(

While it might be nice to think that Baylor's victory is much sweeter because they beat ND, we have no right to say anything bad about ND regardless of what they said last year. Our team couldn't/didn't make the plays when it counted. Harder to eat humble pie with your mouth closed. We had reason to root for ND anyway not just because of the BE. Baylor might not lose next year which would make them about 79-0 going into Odyssey's senior year.

I'm not one to advocate "Stay Classy Storrs" all the time but when you get beat, it is a bad look to stay bad stuff about the team that beat you.

Personally. I strongly believe Baylor will lose early in the season next year...against us!

Eh. Call me classless. But also call classless the over-the-top celebration of Notre Dame after beating us.

And what's the reason for rooting for ND? Pretty spindly, especially if they're playing us in Connecticut.

Maybe we'll see Baylor in New Orleans.... April '13-- Stewie and Dolson against Griner.... Hartley, Mosqueda, Jefferson, Stokes? Tuck, Faris, et al.... could be to end a 79-game streak (or maybe a 78 of 79 streak, if UC plays them in season ......) ...
and maybe UND ....in the East regional?? Trenton ... why not ??? play four times every year !!! Does Novosel have a 6th year waiver available? Does going 0-10 or 11 count as being injurious enough for that to be approved? That reverse layup of hers against UC was great, UND ending up not giving that game away to UC (us) 2 nights ago, and also beating us last year in Indy... ALL that actually ended up counting for..... NADA...... but those guys are great ballplayers....

So I guess you are another fan that doesn't think the way the refs call a game can affect whether a team makes plays when it counts. It takes a huge amount of mental toughness to continue to fight and stay focused when a game is being called so unfairly.

I dislike nd with a passion, whether we beat them or they beat us. Just the way it is. I just don't like 'em, plain and simple.

You think what some of us say about nd is bad, you should see what University of Georgia and GaTech have to say to and about each other. They call it "clean old-fashioned hate". 10 Little Known facts about Clean Old-Fashioned Hate. At homecoming, the Georgia Tech student paper is devoted to parodies and lampoons of all things University of Georgia, referred to in any number of ways: uga, ugag, U[sic]GA. It is hysterical. No one comes out and says "Oh, dear. We shouldn't make fun of them. We have no right to do that." They are rivals. That is what rivals do.

I have limits on my "hatred". I do not wish injuries, illness or any personal misfortune on any of the nd players or coaches. They are, I'm sure, very nice people. I just don't want to see them as a team win any championships. For me, this is the biggest rivalry UConn has right now. This is the team I have "clean old-fashioned hate" for.

They're up there, but Tennessee, Rutgers, and Syracuse still rank ahead of ND in my view.

The game was not called unfairly. The Zebras decided to let both teams maul each other and especially for Novosel not to get the type of calls that had so (unfairly) influenced the outcome of games throughout ND's 2012 campaign. To be consistent, they had to overlook fouls the other way and in my view these evened out and did not effect the outcome of the game.

It is important to not look at individual calls that seemed unjust but the effect of that philosophy on the ebb and flow of the complete game.

Do I think that this is a reasonable way for a final four game to be officiated? No, the game was poorly supervised almost to the point of danger for the competing athletes. Do I agree with another thread that some serious measures have to be taken? Most certainly.

I am a great admirer of Ms. Novosel's game and was sorry that she was so invisible in the first half this evening (which was all I was able to watch). She is a gifted player who has learned to use the system that was available to her.
My impression is that Geno also admires her game.

Next year will be far different. I suspect that Notre Dame's dominance over us is at an end and that we have a good chance of upsetting Baylor. Muffit has done wonders with her veteran team this year.
Next year will be a different story.

Our team has come very far. the pieces are in place for a wonderful run through this segment of the decade.

I'm guessing you don't get the whole "rivalry" thing.

ND did not look like the team which beat Uconn. Their shots were way off. They looked tired.

I watched the ND press conference; didn't watch Baylor's as I can not stand to listen to Mulkey.

The ND players were Achonwa and Diggins; neither player appeared upset (no tears) but I bet the seniors in the locker room were. Diggins was asked if Baylor proved it was the best team in the country and she said yes.

Muffet, on the other hand, was emotional. She became tearful when asked about her seniors. In terms of the game, Muffet said she liked the game plan but would've wanted to have Peters play more minutes though she conceded it probably wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome. She said "we needed more size." She said Griner is impossible to stop and even when defended pretty well she just shot over the ND defenders. Muffet also said that Griner is one of a kind and is like a "guy playing with women," which she intended as a compliment and I hope it's taken that way.
