THE definition by The Man himselfI need a rules clarification. I was under the impression this award was for a player whose toughness and intangibles helped the team to victory. It was not meant to be a Player of the Game Award. Which one is it? Can someone with the proper authority please weigh in with the official rules of the Kibitzer Memorial Bad Ass Award?
Yes and it's telling that Geno chose Caroline to take the final shot and the freshmen stepped up mightily....Now that Azzi is back, and with Caroline, I hope teams keep packing the lane and they'll be hearing air raid horns...Yesss! The Silent Assassin strikes again!! Who else.. Azzi and CW as HM
Morrow would have fouled out in the first half if the refs treated her the same as Liv and Dorka. She got away with at least two elbows to the head one on the Charme, she had to leave the game and another on Dorka. She also shoved a UConn player at least 3 times while getting in position for a rebound. The time that they called Liv for a foul where Morrow fell was bogus. Morrow was pushing Liv out of the way with her body and fell to the ground when Liv stepped away. This was one of the worse called games I've seen this year and those refs should be reprimanded by the league for their poor officiating. The KM BadAss Award goes to the CharmeNot sure of the rules. If it’s BadAss of the game….Morrow in a runaway. UCONN CD Dorka
4. What really counts is tenacity, delivery in the clutch and, most of all, play that breaks the opponent's spirit -- causing dagger-in-the-heart, shoulders slumping effect.
Still say Caroline.
I agree--I give Morrow her due, but man, as you pointed out, the reffing was so very one-sided: Liv couldn't breathe on Morrow, but Morrow was undercutting, throwing elbows, pushing and shoving and got no fouls. Poorly officiated game--even the announcers were picking up on the call disparity...Morrow would have fouled out in the first half if the refs treated her the same as Liv and Dorka. I agree completely, but truth in advertising, the announcers are UConn announcers who tend to bleed blue a little....I agree--I give Morrow her due, but man, as you pointed out, the reffing was so very one-sided: Liv couldn't breathe on Morrow, but Morrow was undercutting, throwing elbows, pushing and shoving and got no fouls. Completely Agree! Gutsiest game played by this team not just this year but, in a few!Bad Ass to the TEAM . TRUE GRIT!
but for the return from the land of illness: special
mention to Christyn Williams and Azzi Fudd.
But truly a third and fourth quarter to remember
Let watch the highlight tape!!! GO TEAM!
That's a "may" not a "shall". She's eligible.Caroline is not eligible!!!!
2. Stats are not the criterion. High scorer may not earn this unique BY recognition.
I read that as being that the high scorer alone is not necessarily the winner, but can be if they meet other criteria such as making the score that deflates the the opponent.Caroline is not eligible!!!!

Thank you, Nan. Most helpful. Perhaps the individual taking over the posting of this Memorial Award (TonyC) should re-read these criteria and place this Kibitzer post at the beginning of each game's posting. It certainly would go a long way to simplify the selection and eliminate multiple "honorable mentions" (although I, myself) hate to not recognize other strong contributions!).THE definition by The Man himself

Get ready for our Boneyard Badass Awards.
The season is almost upon us, so get ready to identify our individual Badass Huskies from game to game. A little refresher course for old 'Yarders and orientation for our newbies. 1. Might I suggest you begin a Player of the Game or some other honorarium? You could differentiate the honor from Game Badass and set your own criteria?Thank you, Nan. Most helpful. You contradict yourself, so what's your real point here?Thank you, Nan. Most helpful. I picture the city’s mayor and councilman coming out after each game to post the bad ass flag with the townspeople lingering around to hear and then applauding.
I think that's actually a picture of the student section.I picture the city’s mayor and councilman coming out after each game to post the bad ass flag with the townspeople lingering around to hear and then applauding.

“Caroline! Ya! Sie ist gut!”
The BadAss award is simply a way for BYers to express our view of the game and the outstanding performance(s) within. At the end of the day, the guideline rules don't mean much.
I haven’t seen this much whining since they told me that Happy Hour was cancelled at the pub. Refs or no refs, a 6’1” freshman went in the paint and ate a 6’5” senior’s lunch. She out hustled and out fought our bigs To the tune of 30 points and 13 rebounds. She wanted it more then they did. Maybe she got away with some stuff that could have been called but either way, she was the most dominant, most impactful player on the court last night. Games like that are played every night in the SEC. We play one physical game in the BE, and the players cower and the fans moan about the refs. Time to get…….Morrow would have fouled out in the first half if the refs treated her the same as Liv and Dorka. Not a need for me, thank you. I am happy with Kibitzer's award and criteria. I like their differentiation from MOP, MVP, etc.Might I suggest you begin a Player of the Game or some other honorarium? You could differentiate the honor from Game Badass and set your own criteria?
... so what's your real point here?
It is pretty simple, really. By restating the award criteria it better explains "Badass" for the uninitiated. I have often read posts with questions and opinions concerning the award and its meaning. And yes, clearly those who want to vote do and make their selection. NBD.
