OT: The Color My World Memorial Guilty Pleasure Thread

I watch The Voice fairly regularly. Big fan.

Big party for the Bryn last night at the Big E during the selection show. I guess she won huh? Talented as they get at 15 years old, crazy. Local Longmeadow MA kid, parents already loaded. Own Brothers Cadillac dealership up here and more. Good for her.

Incredible talent and presence for a 15-year old. Watching them each perform their duets with the "star" assigned to them last night was pretty telling. Whereas the other three seemed a tiny bit exposed by the pairing and the moment (and the poor Buchanan kid had to sing with Ryan Adams on "To Be Without You," which is a good song, but not exactly uplifting), she seemed equal to the task with Julia Michaels, so much so that I think it would have been hard for anyone to know which one was already a star. I think Michaels realized this during the song, too.

They were all obviously very talented, but I think she was clearly the most complete package. Having three teen daughters myself, I still find it hard to believe that she is 15.

Ya know what? I’m getting the sense that you don’t like Miley, and that’s something I’m not prepared to deal with this early.

I prefer the Hanna Montana era tunes.

She does a pretty great job here imo:

She can sing just fine. Always could. And she looks darned good when she isn't playing at out Madonna-ing Madonna.
But as you see on that one, I think her voice actually works best with the country-pop stuff. She doesn't have Carrie Underwood like range, or the ability to sing Guns n Roses or Aerosmith stuff like Carrie can.

.-.
I'm reminded of a recent song that I think fits in this category. Catchy, infectious bubble-gum country pop.

I love Glen Campbell. All of it. Forever.

It still blows my mind how they were trotting him out on stage with late stage Alzheimer’s,he pretty much didn’t even know his own name. And they’d hang a guitar on him and he would just shred.

There is a great Netflix doc about that last tour which is alternately heartbreaking and unbelievably inspirational.
Galveston oh Galveston.

Speaking of this tune.....so, Neil Finn of Crowded House is touring as part of a Lindsey Buckingham-less Fleetwood Mac.

I heard that the other day, from Meg Griffin on her morning Deep Tracks show.

No Lindsey no interest from me.

This was my first reaction but, not to get all @storrsroars , in truth it's more like no Peter Green no interest from me. The more I hear of the early stuff--and of his solo stuff--the more I feel that way. Totally different band.

I don't know this for sure, but I think Finn is handling Lindsey's vocals and Mike Campbell is handling the guitar. And Campbell is no slouch.

So you knew Fleetwood Mac when they were still good, unlike that band with Stevie Nicks that had all the platinum records

Actually, to fit into this thread, I kinda liked "Sentimental Lady" from the Bob Welch era.

I do enjoy Lindsey though. I have one of his solo CDs. I remember him tearing it up on Letterman with "Countdown".

I am on board with all of that. And yes now that you mention it I did hear the Mike Campbell thing also and he is absolutely no slouch. Maybe one of the most criminally underrated guitarists ever.

As for Stevie, I will admit to loving “Landslide.”

I appreciate Fleetwood Mac in all its incarnations. I’m sure the Buckingham/ Nicks era is to commercial for some but both wrote some incredible pop songs.

Ariana has pipes for days. Took my daughter to see her a couple years ago.

Is Ariana 21 yet? Because I have nothing more to say until that's established.

I'm a big fan. I think she's like 30, it creeps me out that she looks like she's 14 and the thoughts that run through my head...
