OT: The Color My World Memorial Guilty Pleasure Thread

Michael Jackson, “Beat It”. Daughter was taking a dance class, using that song, and had my stereo cranking, for hours a day, for many days. I grew to like it. Especially Eddie Van Halen’s riffs.
You guys aren't really playing along with the spirit of the thread Michael Jackson, Mellencamp, Sly and the Family Stone, Jim Croce...come on. We're looking for more Demi Lovato, Air supply.

La vida loca is cring worthy lol.

1) whomp there it is - tag team
2) i wanna sex you up - color me badd
3) party in the usa - miley cyrus

A burden has been lifted.

#3 doesn’t qualify. Great American art.

I thought of more:

April Wine- Sign of the Gypsy Queen. Just between you and me

Andy Gibb - I Just want to be Your Everything

Ambrosia - Biggest Part of Me.....How Much I Feel

Michelle Branch - Everywhere.....All You Wanted

I can’t respond to this because I will quit my job to create an absolutely perfect top 100 list of my favorite guilty pleasures which would shame @champs99and04 in length.

You already have a solid head start.

Anyone else on my Joan of arc list on your top 100?

Thought I posted this morning. Well, world's biggest heartbreaker:

Patches- Clarence Carter

It’s pretty out there from my usual playlists. And Sly from Woodstock always inspires.

Screw Woodstock! His performance at Quigley Stadium in West Haven set the standard.

Ya know what? I’m getting the sense that you don’t like Miley, and that’s something I’m not prepared to deal with this early.

She probably belongs on the Joan of Arc list. Like the other ones, she'd probably sound better that way.

Here's a couple from my tween years that I can't help but sing at the top of my lungs.

Key Largo - Bertie Higgins
The Piña Colada Song - Rupert Holmes

Hat tip on Andy. Not afraid to admit to diggin' him, too.

I watch The Voice fairly regularly. Big fan.

Big party for the Bryn last night at the Big E during the selection show. I guess she won huh? Talented as they get at 15 years old, crazy. Local Longmeadow MA kid, parents already loaded. Own Brothers Cadillac dealership up here and more. Good for her.

Incredible talent and presence for a 15-year old. Watching them each perform their duets with the "star" assigned to them last night was pretty telling. Whereas the other three seemed a tiny bit exposed by the pairing and the moment (and the poor Buchanan kid had to sing with Ryan Adams on "To Be Without You," which is a good song, but not exactly uplifting), she seemed equal to the task with Julia Michaels, so much so that I think it would have been hard for anyone to know which one was already a star. I think Michaels realized this during the song, too.

They were all obviously very talented, but I think she was clearly the most complete package. Having three teen daughters myself, I still find it hard to believe that she is 15.

I prefer the Hanna Montana era tunes.

She does a pretty great job here imo:

She can sing just fine. Always could. And she looks darned good when she isn't playing at out Madonna-ing Madonna.
But as you see on that one, I think her voice actually works best with the country-pop stuff. She doesn't have Carrie Underwood like range, or the ability to sing Guns n Roses or Aerosmith stuff like Carrie can.

I'm reminded of a recent song that I think fits in this category. Catchy, infectious bubble-gum country pop.

I love Glen Campbell. All of it. Forever.

It still blows my mind how they were trotting him out on stage with late stage Alzheimer’s,he pretty much didn’t even know his own name. And they’d hang a guitar on him and he would just shred.

There is a great Netflix doc about that last tour which is alternately heartbreaking and unbelievably inspirational.
Galveston oh Galveston.
