Please Jmick. I like you and I know you are smarter than this. Dont be obtuse. Do you really need me to quote every different way by many different posters how there could be leveraging and fallout of behind the scenes stuff?
He isn't being Obtuse. You are. A lot of people have said that, if things don't miraculously improve, UConn should consider firing him at the end of the season. That position, agree or disagree, comes along with needing to do some due diligence work like figuring out who could be the next coach. A VERY common response to this position was that the school can't afford the buyout. The counter to that was that there may be a way to show cause and that UConn could use that as leverage to negotiate a buyout that benefits both parties, should it come to that. You spun that counter into your own narrative. JMick was right.

I am amazed that your are amazed by all of this. You know that this is a business too, right? I have no personal connection to Ollie. I neither love him nor hate him. For me, it is either win or leave. You, on the other hand, appear to have a bit of an emotional attachment to the guy. That's fine. Just know that most people don't.

How are we to determine that Gilbert is the missing leader this team needs? Based on the 7-8 games he played in the past 2 years? I just see him becoming another magic talisman for KO's defenders to fight off all critiques of the product on the floor. For the record, I thought KO was going to get this full season to turn it around, but it is already looking unlikely that UConn makes a change no matter what happens. No way in hell he gets fired during a season.

News articles and practice reports from people there. Even on the bench he is pretty much the most vocal guy to teammates.
Whereas KO in practice is pulling Jalen over and having to coach him on and ask him to speak to teammates.
The other vocal leader at practice besides Alterique is surprising. Onuorah. Its good to see, but you have to think Alterique on the floor would have a greater impact than DO. Just simply from a byproduct of position and minutes if nothing else.

And no, Alterique isnt an excuse for a team to go into a tank. Ive already said that. It would just be nice.

Whether you like KO or not, this chatter is bad for recruiting. I think it would be best to just cut it out unless KO being fired becomes a desperate need over the coming weeks. By that, I mean things get a lot worse than they are today.

For right now, we need to support the coach and the team. KO is a good recruiter and he did coach the title team really well. I’m keeping my fingers crossed he turns the corner rather than jumps off the cliff. Doing that is going to require some sort of organized system on offense.

In the context of the discussion regarding the buyout I'm not sure it's a conversation the admin shouldn't at least consider having internally. Now, whether it's actually a good idea or not is a different story.

If Ollie is engaged in illegal or ethically questionable activity he should be fired. Let him sue. Only place I’ve seen anything is here and it is all very cryptic so I assume it is not real. If it is then it is better to fire him and deal with that. One thing we have learned is that the coverup just makes everything worse. And eventually it comes out.

No one has said anything about illegal activities. Details have been posted here, they're just typically removed.

Definitely more than that.
From people that post more than once a week? I find that hard to believe. I'm here a lot and I don't see many calling for his head today. Granted, I also ignore a lot of people here.

Well not today, but I've seen over half a dozen "fire him immediately" posts throughout the season.

I don’t know what the details are. Have not seen or heard anything but I find it pretty hard to imagine in this age of blogs message boards Facebook and the rest that anything he is involved with won’t be public at somenpoint

I think it's probably the same people over and over again
You are a fraud with your innuendos. You don't have any inside sources on UCONN. I have never seen u post anything meaningful on UCONN recruiting or team play. The only thing that u have is the same crap that you repeat a thousand times in a thousand different ways. It must be true then according to your brain.

There is limited immunity for anything posted in the chat during a live game.

All you whisperers who think you are being cool and h3tty by showing you are "in the know" actually dont know crap. and then you all share it via PM and then come back on the board making all kinds a veiled references to all these "horrors".

At this point anything short of the breaking news of Kevin Ollie eating fetuses is wildly exaggerated on this board.

And that is where you are wrong.

what exactly am I wrong about.

Is this a coverup of watergate or Russian pee tape proportions?
I expect a Jacobs column when all is said and done. Whether that's next year or further into the future

Whether someone on the board thinks the team will improve or get worse has absolutely zero effect on how the team plays.

That has nothing to do with what I said. It's simple logic. You can't have it both ways. If your position is (a) fire Ollie if the team doesn't win enough and make post-season and (b) this team will never, under any circumstances improve and win enough to make the post season, then you are effectively calling for him to be fired as of now, for the decision to be made.

The problem is not with position (a), it is with position (b). Many of us probably support position (a). But I also say that I hope and believe that this team can and will improve and win games and make believers of us.

If it is truly bad, he should write it now. It would hurt the program, but why would he hold back? He has gone after Calhoun many times.

I have no knowledge of any of that crap. All I can say is that the pre-divorce Kevin Ollie seemed to act and coach differently than the post divorce Kevin Ollie does. There were no questions about the team and locker-room culture previously. I won't speculate on the why of it.

I've never once said fire him today and I've maintained Ollie is in over his head and this team will finish the same as last year. Of course I want them to improve and become a good team that makes the tournament but I see no way that happens.

We all hope we are good, some of us just don't deny all the writing on the wall.

I'd imagine there aren't too many who are willing to be on the record while Ollie is still employed. As it should be.

It all started going to shart not long after the championship.

This thing where people allude to the horror show going on behind the scenes is pathetic. Give concrete information if you have it (you don't), but this "oh trust me, things are really bad" shtick that some of you have going on is tired as duck.
