Wow. Just Wow.

I give you honesty points at least.

It's a fair point isn't it? We stopped supporting Diaco because he lost and looked clueless doing it. Ollie isn't quite losing (7-3), but was under .500 last year. However, he also looks pretty clueless doing it. Team looks unprepared, in game adjustments are poor, discipline is poor, organization on offense and defense is poor.

Like you, I want him to do a better job, and if he does, the team will play better. That should lead to more winning. Is this a controversial position? Why? What I don't do is support Kevin Ollie because he's Kevin Ollie and played for UConn. I didn't want him to be the coach. I wanted somebody disconnected from UConn, and with real HC experience. He's also way overpaid. I wish the NBA would take him off our hands.

and there you go. One season under 500 and a 7-3 start have the people ready for firing.

also multiple 20 win seasons a 7-1 NCAA tourney record and an AAC tourney championship.

if people want to quote the negative, the positive must also be included.

But there are a million excuses for KO's positives by the fire Ollie contingent. Its disingenuous at best and clueless at worst.

His first two seasons were great, he's been a disaster since. Anyone looking at our 7-3 record thinking it means we don't stink doesn't know anything about basketball. This year's team is no better than last year's, good chance it's actually worse.

I'm not in the fire Ollie camp yet. I want to see the season play out. But hey, Diaco got to a bowl game in that second season. Ollie's teams look poorly coached, just like Diaco's. The lack of discipline and leadership on the court is troubling. If I wasn't a UConn fan, I wouldn't like this team.

Kevin turning into the KO he used to be, the one with those positives, is our best outcome. I don't know if he will.

He may not. I dont disagree with anything you say. But the season MUST play out. I have no problems with anything you said. I have BIG problems with people who say he needs to go NOW, and then use all kinds of muttered innuendo and PM's and come on here and talk like they have "the dirt" for show cause to get out of a buyout in the middle of a 7-3 start with 3 huge games coming up and conference play not even started yet. You arent a UConn fan if you do that. You are a scumbag.

Amen to that. I want to see them come out, play smothering D and shock Arizona on Thursday. Then do the same to Auburn and Wichita State. I want guys diving for balls, moving away from the ball, crashing the boards hard, and passing to the open man. I want to see UConn basketball. I don't give a crap if Ollie is the coach or Miley Cyrus is, if they can play that way again. As much as anything, I want the coach to hold the players accountable, and the players to hold each other accountable. So far, I'm not seeing much of it.

How many people actually want him fired today? Maybe 2-3 posters? You're just making things up now

a few, and the ones who dont actually say fire NOW are hinting at show cause to get out of buyout scenarios, which is actually worse than just the "fire because of performance only right now" people.

It's too late. Reminds of me of me watching the GF's young grandchildren. They're going berzerk and I'm threatening them with a timeout. They just laughed and said, "You NEVER put us in timeout!"

I love Jalen Adams as an offensive player. We needed him as a leader. Hes not that guy, unfortunately. Its just doesnt seem to be in his makeup. Hope Im wrong, but almsot 1/2 way into JR. year, I havent seen it yet. Not really a knock on him, thats not unique to him. Leadership is a special trait.
Gilbert is a leader. We really got a raw deal this year. Not an excuse. KO needs to get it done with what he has left. At least show that the remaining players play hard, compete and are working toward something. But man it got so much harder without Alterique.

You've warped this into your own little narrative. Show cause was only brought up in the context of his buyout. It was A. Keep Ollie, B. Find $10mm or C. Hope for cause. Those are the only scenarios

Please Jmick. I like you and I know you are smarter than this. Dont be obtuse. Do you really need me to quote every different way by many different posters how there could be leveraging and fallout of behind the scenes stuff?

Cobb showed me some leadership too. He needs to be that guy, and keep people in line. Has to stay on the court to do that.

As far as I am concerned, if someone insists that the "season is lost" or that they can't win games and get to the tournament, and you say, I want Ollie gone if he misses the tournament, then you are saying fire him. If you don't believe improvement is possible then you aren't helping.

Whether someone on the board thinks the team will improve or get worse has absolutely zero effect on how the team plays.

How are we to determine that Gilbert is the missing leader this team needs? Based on the 7-8 games he played in the past 2 years? I just see him becoming another magic talisman for KO's defenders to fight off all critiques of the product on the floor. For the record, I thought KO was going to get this full season to turn it around, but it is already looking unlikely that UConn makes a change no matter what happens. No way in hell he gets fired during a season.
