The results over the past 3 seasons have been disappointing given the talent on the roster. How does a team with Adams, Larrier, Vital, Cobb, Anderson, etc. struggle so badly that it needed to go to overtime to beat a 1 win Columbia team? There has been plenty of talent on the rosters to at least compete for the AAC title, yet 5th place is the norm.

You're not thinking this through at all.

KO knows that the university has next to no chance of going public with that due to the mountains of bad publicity it would bring to the program and entire administration. AD Dave's career would be in serious jeopardy if it came out that he knew about all of this and postponed taking disciplinary action until team performance began to suffer...the fact that the university let this slide and continue happening over an extended period of time would not be received well either.

This isn't even considering how many figures in the media bear a grudge against UConn, and would eagerly give this story legs/keep it in circulation long enough to render it a serious hit to the brand. ESPN in particular is stocked with Newhouse grads who would love to kick UConn when it's down.

With that in mind, your proposal doesn't make any sense. If you're telling me you honestly believe that KO is the only one who will look bad if the university goes public, I have no choice but to assume that some sort of emotional displeasure with the team's play is creating a bias in your thought process.

The school can engage in an elaborate game of chicken with Ollie if it wants to, but it will be at its own peril. Once it gets ugly enough privately for either side to seriously contemplate filing suit, it blows up in everybodys' face if that happens. The moment anybody files suit it suddenly all becomes public record. Nobody is going to take that incredible PR risk. I doubt the school would be comfortable with rattling any sabers because even if they think they're doing that totally privately, word always leaks out and the school knows it.

Ollie will get whatever buyout amount he's entitled to in accordance with his contract, if and when that time comes.

Agreed. I'm not privy to these supposed nefarious activities Ollie has been or hasn't been engaging in, but the black eye is ultimately going to fall on the school regardless of who was responsible.

And, yet, this happens all the time. Teams fire coaches (announced as a resignation) and negotiate smaller buy outs all the time. Stuff may leak but it is usually a minor story because it is all hearsay. So long as the two parties agree to a solution that protects and benefits both of them, no major story or black eye will result.

You guys can wish and hope for that all you want, but it's not happening. I find it very sad that there's a faction of UConn fans hoping that Ollie and the school get dragged through the muck just to get rid of a coach. The rammifications of that process would last far beyond his departure.

But would it last longer than his tenure? Not sure if you noticed, but we are being dragged through the muck with him at the helm.

I am wishing and hoping for a better team. I don't care how it happens or who the coach is. If Ollie suddenly starts winning, I will suddenly start supporting him. If not, I won't.

The bad press we would get if it were to play out like that would be infinitely worse than what we are getting right now. Frankly it's sad how few people understand how much of a black mark it would be on the program/AD/university, and how much that would set us back.

The same people who complain about coaching salaries would no doubt be angrier if they found out what that 3 mil man is actually doing. That of course is more than understandable. You also need to set your foot down at some point if you want to actually be a respectable institution of higher learning

LMAO at the fact that you think what the 3 mil man is doing wouldn't reflect on an administration who knew exactly what was going on and didn't act on it until the team stopped winning. I guess if thinking the media would let it dissipate into thin air as soon as a coaching change was made gets you through the day, be my guest. That's not at all reflective of reality.

Really that’s it. I support UConn athletics. Coaches come and go. I’ve lived through Dee Rowe, Perno Calhoun and now Ollie. I don’t much care who the coach is as pong as he is successful. If he is I’m for him. If not get someone else who is. Not unlike my opinion on lots of people in lots of jobs. If the lawyer isn’t getting it done I replace him. If the architect isn’t get a new one. After a while whether I personally like the guy or not to borrow from palatine it is about production and Ollie’s has fallen off the charts.

None of it's good. Some I've seen with my own eyes. Other things are smoke with a lot to back it up
