I get the feeling that, once he graduates and there's a few years of separation to ponder things, I'll think of him as one of my favorite players. The kid has a lot going for him, and he's done it under tough circumstances. Not saying anything new here, but imagine if he was on even just a "ok/good" Calhoun team, my Lord.

Whatever. That wasn't my point. I'm not even sure what you think I was trying to do in your fevered imagination.

Fact is, in a season of promise, the goal was not to squeak into the tournament as one of the last 4 at large teams.

You said verbatim that the shot and winning the AAC tourney was what got them into the tournament. Pretty hard for what you wrote to have any other meaning.

Stating that you believe that weakens the credibility of any other points you argue.

I still don’t think he should be fired. That being said I will support any coach we have and hope for the best to watch enjoyable basketball. If fired... first call to Calhoun. if we can do Edsall after he dumped us it’s a no brainer to aleast ask.
The current players wouldn't last a week with JC. He'd play walk-ons before most of these guys the way they played defense this year. Either these guys would walk or JC would have a stroke.

He just needs that other big scorer to be with him. That Robin to his Batman. Like Shabazz had with Ryan.

Vital just isn't ready for "Robin"...yet...

Tough to say goodbye, he is a big part of the family. However, you never know how things can evolve. New coach now, but perhaps KO 2.0 down the line?

Then the question remains. When does the trigger get pulled or not pulled. Pitt pulled the trigger the next day, obviously their situation is worse but still. Time will tell I guess.
There situation isn't much worse and the job(ACC) may actually be better. In many ways, we are competing with Pitt. AD DB needs to make this public immediately.

I've wanted Ollie gone for quite some time.

But, having said that,

Once a Husky always a Husky.

He should always be welcomed back to Gampel and he should be invited to every anniversary of the 2011 and 2014 teams and he should receive a warm reception

What Willie says is true, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be fired.

I can believe that if AG never got hurt we would have been in the post season both years (probably NIT but still) and STILL believe we need to go in a different direction.

He needs a lot more than a robin. How about a competent coaching staff, and a D1 ready big man for starters

I still think that Carlton will be that guy. We got hurt a lot this year by the fact that none of our 5s could play D. If that part of Carlton's game can improve, we'll see much better performances on the court...

Could you imagine JA's talent with some real coaching, innovative offensive schemes, and holding players accountable to show toughness?
I agree, for the most part, that he has a lot of talent. But I watched him today in the 2nd half jawing at CV for not passing him the ball in the corner. The play was still going on and he's jogging back jawing. I've seen this selfish behavior out of him a lot this season. He doesn't get the ball when he wants it and jogs back up the court with his palms up. As the leader of the team, he needs to play hard all the time. Talk to your teammate during a dead ball moment.

That's called leadership when you're winning. I remember our star player shoving one of his teammates on the court during live play during our last national championship win, and nobody called Shabazz selfish.

He’s owed a lot of money. Not sure he’s going anywhere this year.

Also, seeing that the Big East teams that went to the ACC are not too successful since going, i doubt UCONN going there, which i don’t think will happen anyway, will change the program.

We’re stuck in the American. We need to find a way to win. Winning counts, and the vast majority of the teams in the American are beatable. We need a winner running the show. We don’t have that right now.
here's the sad thing... because of Ollie, there are fans at Tulane, looking at Uconn on their schedule and saying the same thing.

This is part of the problem -- KO doesn't hold him (or anyone) accountable.

Under a real coach, he could have been molded into not just a great basketball player, but a leader as well.

I don't agree. Adams and Vital have good to very good ability. You'd hope coaching might eliminate some questionable decision-making. A few of the younger guys can contribute without having to be stars. Polley, Carlton,Diarra need coaching too, but aren't stiffs. Hard to rely on Gilbert, but who knows and the St. John's transfer and some of the recruits supposedly are ok. There is a clear coaching issue. If Ollie is let go, who knows who will remain or honor their commitment. It could wind up being a big rebuild.

I would never call ignoring an ongoing play to sound off leadership. Was that Bazz and Boat in your shoving example? Sounds familiar.
