Tevin Mack (Committed to Texas)

"Mack is a big-time athlete who can buckle down on defense to stop the opponent’s best offensive player. He can finish above the rim with authority, and he can get to the rim off the bounce. He needs to improve his jumper at this point, but he has the potential to make an impact for a big program during the 2015-16 season."

Isn't this the opposite of the prevailing analysis on Mack. I thought the consensus was that Mack was not a "big-time athlete" but a highly skilled player with a great jumper and handle.

Now I am confused.

Keep in mind the "analysis" done here is based off a couple mix tapes that were posted. I'm sure very few posters, if any, have seen the kid play a full game.

I doubt he's referring to posters, there are scouting reports online that say the exact opposite than what was posted in the zagsblog report. but then again who knows, we've seen those reports from Rivals, Scout, etc be way off on our guys once they arrive on campus and play games.

#22.

Maybe the Dozier/Mack connection has some reasonably strong legs with regards to South Carolina. A VCU poster with his head seemingly screwed on right actually made a decent argument. It could be Dozier's decision is bound to Mack's to a certain degree hence the delay with Mack? The 2 of them are ranked #1 and #2 in the state of SC.

I saw a video interview with one of his coaches. When asked Mack's biggest strength he said without a doubt his shooting ability (and he needs some improvement in other areas) which seems to confirm what I have read on recruiting sites.

Someone just made a UConn prediction for Tevin Mack. Us and UGA are now well out in front for his Crystal Ball. He's a UK guy, so I'm sure he doesn't have any inside knowledge and is just going with his gut for sh!ts and gigs. Still, noteworthy that the last few predictions have all been for us. This kid needs to announce. I'd love to have him, but it's exhausting following his situation. Let's end it, Tevin!

i was just in South Carolina this weekend and can safely say that nobody has heard of Tevin Mack, but then again nobody had heard of Ray Allen, but then again nobody had heard of basketball.

I was playing golf in Myrtle in November the year Ray was a freshman. I was at the Grandaddy course, Pine Lake where they serve clam chowder on a par 3 and asked the 2 cooks there about Ray - they went crazy. "You guys got yourself a playa, I mean a PLAYA"........I was happy to hear that not knowing much yet but was even more happy to find out how right they were!

Dozier's deciding soon. If there's anything to the Dozier/Mack thing, we should be hoping he picks Louisville (and they're getting some buzz it seems).

Also, our VCU friends seem to think they'll be getting a commitment from a different SF soon.

This could all just mean he picks Georgia, but it certainly wouldn't be bad news for us.

Five crystal ball picks, all within the last 24 hours. When that happens there's usually fire behind the smoke.

Interesting pick-up for Louisville. Got to wonder if this ends up shaking Donovan Mitchell loose, since signing Dozier is basically recruiting over the kid. I don't know if we'd end up having interest, but it'd be nice to have another name out there in the spring should we whiff on our top targets now.

Pitino is selling Dozier on playing the 1 with Mitchell at the 2.

Ah... that makes more sense.

Really good recruiting class for 'Ville. They're going to kick chunks out of the ACC for the next 3-4 years, I bet.

They've been consistently better than anything the ACC has had to offer more or less since 2009. You put their post season runs against Duke or UNC and it really isn't much of a comparison (despite the fact that each have a title in that span).

I have no hard feelings towards Louisville, and I'll pull for them against anyone in the ACC.

There is some Tevin Mack to VCU momentum based on recent Crystalball picks.
