I saw that on the Summitt yesterday...apparently it was between UT and SC. They need some height, though, IMO.

Pushes roster to 10 so adds some depth. That's about it though.

I guess this represents 20% of their own "Fab 5." Only 4 to go.

No offense to probably a vew nice young lady, but she was overall unranked and 61st for her position with a rating of 88.

It's very rare that JC players improve a lot in one year of play, so I would expect she will get limited time. She will at least give them 10 players to practice with.

I was thinking the same thing, but at least Tennessee has something to hang their hat on.

I thought that Tenneessee might go the JUCO route. They are struggling with recruiting and need more players and talent.

Kib, here's another 20% of Tennessee's Fab 5:

More players, yes. I'm not sure how much more talent this gives them.

This will help as far as debth. With adding Carter the guard play should be strong. Graves and Jones will give a little more size.

Guard play will be the strength of this years team. Post play will be an issue.

Jones is more of a forward, so she won't really add that help in the post.

who do you anticipate starters to be? Massengale, Simmons, Spani, Burdick and Harrison? or do you think Graves starts from day 1?

That's a good likely starting lineup. I don't think Graves will start right away. That is not saying she won't get good minutes.

Should be interesting to see how they are defensively with that starting 5. Two small guards, a slow small forward and power forward and a thin and foul prone center.

We posted earlier about Banks and Jefferson struggling to keep quicker players in front of them. That is what I saw with Massingale and Simmons.

good points. i know some Tennessee fans are fairly high on the team this coming year, but the reality is that last year they had 5 seniors, 4 who often started, 3 who were drafted in the WNBA, and 2 who were drafted in the 1st round. and they lost all of that. And with that, they weren't able to get out of the elite 8.

Obviously i'll be rooting against them no matter who they play, but from a purely objective perspective, it's going to be very interesting to see what Holly is going to do with the team, if she will be able to take them in a different direction than they've gone for the past 4-5 years, and how they fare against many of the more experienced teams they will face this year...

I have a hard time picture Tennessee going thru the year ranked in the 13-18 range, but it seems that's where they belong, at least preseason. While it's hard to picture any Tennessee team that low, looking at it realistically, it's hard to imagine them being ranked any higher...

Well not everyone has the quickness of Simmons. It's hard keeping up with something going ultra warp speed. Spani has been slowed by injuries. Early last year she was in great shape and moving pretty good. I think Burdick will improve a lot.

I would go with Massengale, Simmons, Williams, Spani, and Burdick. Phillips was signed only because the team is in desperate need of bodies. It's hard to see her being a factor this year barring a rash of injuries, which given recent history is entirely possible....

That is a very small lineup, also pretty weak defensively and rebounding wise, with only Williams a better than average defender IMO. I'd be pretty surprised if that lineup was used a lot.

I would expect Harrison and Graves to be in foul trouble a lot, regardless of whether they start. There just aren't a lot of options to choose from, and this team will be weak on defense and rebounding regardless if who's on the court.

All true, unfortunately for LV fans.

That seems to be a fairly frank assessment of 2 of your front court players. would you not think that Harrison would have learned a lot last year? of course, Dev Peters was foul prone most of her career so it's not like it's something that necessarily can be "learned" in one year...
