For the force-sensitive nerds like myself, the trailer to TLJ is likely to be released Thursday or Friday. Most likely Friday, but outside shot of Thursday with the Star Wars event under way in Orlando. Difficult to see, always in motion is the date. And let's not forget the release of Thrawn and a possible announcement about another one-shot Star Wars movie on the way. Anyone else pumped?

Reading Thrawn now, it's pretty awesome so far.

There WILL be a trailer today. My guess is it'll come out around 12:30. I'll be watching celebration streams all day.. LETS DO THIS.

Not very inspiring in my opinion, but I am still all in, and probably always will be when it comes to Star Wars.

i need to know what are those ships and why are they spray painting the desert

Tactical concealment?

Halftime Show?

So actually I think they are tearing up the ground and revealing the red dirt underneath. The reason is still a mystery

Space farming?

They have built a blockbuster movie around Mark Hamill. We will find out just how indestructible this franchise is.

The trailer looks OK, nothing great. Which is good, because I think they're saving a lot of the best stuff for behind the curtain.
Everyone who has seen the script apparently loves it and Rian Johnson is very good at what he does.
My only concern is apparently Johnson's first attempt was too dark for Disney so they asked him to re-write stuff. Lets hope Minnie Mouse doesn't end up in it...or the Ewoks.

wasn't that thrilled with the trailer, but you bring up a great point - far too many times we see the only great parts of a movie via a 3 minute trailer. Hopefully the trailer isn't so good because the movie is wall-to-wall great stuff.

Yeah, trailer was crap. You're not necessarily wrong about the rest of the movie being (maybe) good, but I really think the first trailer should be a tour de force. To get people even more excited than they actually were. This trailer was a buzzkill.

Why is it time for the jedi to end? I don't like this sentiment, I don't want it to end.

Same. Best part of Star Wars. Although, it could be a play on something.

A Star Wars movie without light sabers is merely a space odyssey.

It all depends on the reason, right? It the reasoning is sound then it could be a great way to end the Starwalker part of the saga. I could see something being developed about "balance" good begets evil, the light has to be balanced by the dark, no Jedi means no Sith...

Since Disney came along, they've done a very good job of staggering hints about the movie over the course of the trailers. Each one brings new (limited) insight. This trailer revealed absolutely nothing that we didn't already know. We knew Luke would train Rey. We knew there would be some combination of space and planetary battles between the New Order and the Resistance. All of the characters were from TFA. I was a little disappointed at first, but I really don't want to learn too much anyway so I'm good until the next trailer is released. I am guessing that will be around the July 4 movie releases when Spiderman comes out.

I started reading the canon novels at the beginning of this year and I've been ripping through them to the point where I'm almost caught up to current releases. I am finishing up Life Debt now. I have Thrawn and Empire's End arriving in the next week or so (I read books not kindle). I even ordered season 1 of Rebels. We have Rebel Rising on the way in May and Inferno Squad in July. I am hoping that there will be enough content to tide me over until December. I've been pleasantly surprised with the canon novels - even the first person Heir to the Jedi didn't really deter me.

Well they built the first 3 around him and survived. At least he's a great voice actor.

I took the title to mean that Luke Skywalker is the lone Jedi alive after the purge of the Jedi by the Emperor & Vader after the death of Obi Wan & this film will be an homage to how Luke tries to regain balance in the Force through coming out of self imposed exile & training future Jedi starting with Rae. (I could be totally out in left field).

A young Harrison Ford carried the first three movies. And of course the Ewoks.

It was an ensemble cast. Ford was key, and Fisher, but the single most brilliant piece of casting was Alec Guinness. He was a known actor of great talent and serious roles. I read long ago that he was chosen so that people would take this story set in space a bit more seriously. He added weight to it. Today...it's not needed, but times were different then. Hamill was the weakest link, but he's not a kid anymore and is better than he was in the 70's. I think Daisy is basically carrying this one.
