Thought I would start one up. Some general comments.

- Great big game feel tonight.
- Sigh of relief for all of us who already purchased our tickets to the Albany region
- Dawn has completely remade the Gamecocks this year into a much quicker more dangerous team. I would not count them out in the SEC tournament

If you turned off the lights in Gampel or XL and told Lou and Collier to move the ball down court without missing a pass they would never miss. Add Crystal to that equation, only she would do it with some behind the back passes.

.-.
Both teams played even for 20 minutes. Then the run came.

Lou & Pheesa were spectacular. Chrystin looks like she is regaining her early season form. Well balance game for her.

Probably going to be overlooked but Olivia's play in the 3rd quarter basically shut down SC's inside game. That was all UConn needed to bury them.

Big step forward.

Geno said it about Ono in the post game interview

Missed the game; my son’s school was in the basketbal league championships (they did not do as well as UConn). Any links to post pressers? I can’t find any. Thanks!

That was a very entertaining game! Great shooting and ball movement by both teams. But when SC shooting regressed to the mean after an unworldly first quarter, Cocky didn’t seem to know what to do next.

I mentioned it in the game thread that Christyn has finally broken through her freshman wall. She looked good tonight when it really was needed. 19 points, 4 reb, 1 steal & 1 block in 39 minutes. Those 2 3's she hit were HUGE and timely. :D

Note - ALL the starters played 39 minutes except Walker (31) (foul trouble).

Reading some comments on the chat and there are some negative comments, especially about the defense and Ono's play. Anyone who finds something bad to say about tonight's performance, is just being unfair. We already knew the defense needed to improve and it did in the third quarter when it was most needed. Seems some people are just hard to please.

We know Sue was in the house. Just wondering if she gets to interact with the team either during pregame practice or postgame. Does anyone know what generally happens when former players are around?

Napheesa showed out! Strengthened her case for NPOY.
Christyn showed up.
ONO did exactly what UCONN needs in the time she was in the game SC found it very hard to get anything done in the paint.
Lou should get some mention as well... 29 points, flawless at the free throw line, some great assists and rebounds. A GREAT TEAM WIN!!!:):):):):D:D

Unfortunately, the Chat has become a place to avoid during close games.:rolleyes:

That's one of the reasons I no longer go on the chat page.

Now we know what the team looks like when all 5 starters +1 come to play. With Crystal, Megan, and Christyn all attacking the basket, the defenses had to readjust, leaving Lou and Napheesa more open. They don’t need a lot of room, just an opening. Man, Napheesa made some tough, tough shots today and some of Lou’s rebounds were FIERCE.

This was classic UConn basketball against a pretty darn good opponent who shot the lights out in the first half. Kudos to South Carolina. They were unfortunate to get the Huskies when they were running on all cylinders

And when you think about how hot SC was shooting you have to wonder how many other teams (Even top teams) would have kept their composure through that and kept running their stuff without losing their minds. Just an awesome job by UCONN.
