Either that, or somebody's gotta check the water in Nashville. It may not be as bad as Flint's, but, sumpthin' ain't right....

Would work if Vanderbilt had a vote, plus if you heard coach Balcomb on my podcast, I don't think there's much love for SC.:

The board for the 2015-16 season: Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, Albany; Zenarae Antoine, Texas State; Lynn Bria, Stetson; Joan Bonvicini, Seattle; Dawn Brown, Prairie View AM; Jamie Craighead, San Jose State; Kristy Curry, Alabama; Denise Dillon, Drexel; Brooks Donald-Williams, McNeese State; Oties Epps, Evansville; Brittney Ezell, East Tennessee State; Jason Flowers, Cal-State Northridge; Susan Robinson Fruchtl, Providence; Stephanie Gaitley, Fordham; LeDawn Gibson, Florida AM; Joe Haigh, Saint Francis (Pa.); Quentin Hillsman, Syracuse; Ali Jaques, Siena; Jeff Judkins, Brigham Young; Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick, North Carolina-Asheville; Kelly Lewis-Jay, Florida Atlantic; Jim Littell, Oklahoma State; Dave Magarity, Army; David Midlick, Austin Peay; Regina Miller, Illinois-Chicago; Mike Neighbors, Washington; Rhonda Rompola, Southern Methodist; Brady Sallee, Ball State; Wendy Schuller, Eastern Washington; Dayna Smith, Cornell; Coquese Washington, Penn State; Amy Williams, South Dakota.

I think there are mistakes in the calculation.
In the detail poll, UConn Hi/LO is 1/1, but point is 799, and 31 1st vote. (doesn't match)

According to the fine print, the Hi/Lo reflects the highest and lowest (composite) rankings that the team has held to this point in the season. If a few voters rank UCONN somewhere lower than #1 in a given week but the team still earns the most rankings points for that week, they remain #1 that week. This could go on all season long and their Hi/Lo would still be 1/1.

Maybe other polls have a Hi/Lo that reflects a distribution of positional votes for that week only. I thought's that what it was, too.

Maybe Rhonda thought she wasn't beaten badly enough....

Hi Lo is over the course of the season, not this week.

The points do work:

(31 x 25) = 775 + (1 x 24) = 799 pts for UConn

(31x24) = 744 + (1 x 25) = 769 pts for South Carolina
If Hi/Lo is for the season, then it makes sense. Thanks.

Maybe Dawn Brown, Prairie View AM trying to avoid another 1st round match up in the tournament with UCONN.

Yeah, I based that post on the previous post that mentioned Vandy - foolishly, perhaps I assumed that it had some basis (at least a vote, to make it feasible).
I'm curious as to whether you might know, or think, which coach voted for SC. I'm obviously a UConn fan, but, I don't think an apologist - but, for the life of me, I can't figure out why anybody as cognizant of current WCBB as a current head coach could, in good faith, vote for anybody for #1 other than UConn.

I'm not gonna get into a long list of the reasons, they're pretty obvious. Nor am I gonna get into hypothetical "on any given day" debates, because that's just as obvious. But, based on the objective evidence, I just can't see a rationale for another head coach thinking that any other team has a 50/50 chance at defeating UConn in a neutral situaton (or, otherwise, frankly).

As Damon Runyon said "The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong: but, that's the way to bet."

Nobody has established themselves as swift nor as strong as UConn, so, who the heck is betting against them?

With all of that agreed to what's even more baffling to me is that since there were many consecutive weeks of UConn being the unanimous #1 from these same voters, what on earth happened in the last week that could/would/should cause one of these same voters to change their vote to SC?

From the movie Mister Roberts here is a quote(at least I thought it was from the movie)

Capt. Morton: [on the loudspeaker in reference to his "missing" first place vote... ] All right! Who did it? Who did it? You are going to stand sweating at those battle stations until someone confesses! It's an insult to the honor of UConn WBB! The symbol of our overall record has been destroyed and I'm going to find out who did it if it takes all night!

I am surprised that Tenn is still in #23 with 12-7 record,
Sort of surprised, but not really. They started the year ranked #4 and almost everyone thought they were a serious threat for the FF.

But unfortunately, where rankings are concerned, there's lots of inertia. So it takes an awful lot to drop a top 5 team out of the top 25. If not for the losses to unranked Arkansas, Va Tech and Florida, Tennessee would still probably be a top 10 team in the rankings...

Geez, c'mon guys. They did rack up 7 points in the first quarter the other day. ( And maybe they were playing high school quarters to shorten the game bec of the bad weather.)
