OT: Songs About Strong Moods and Emotions

Another about long-lost love. In this one the protagonist hides it well. I LOVE Yvonne Lanauze's vocal; she gets me every time, even though I've owned the recording for over 50 years. Final verse:

No, Sophisticated Lady, I know
You miss the love you lost long ago
And when nobody is nigh
You cry

That's an extraordinary song. Here's another poignant one by Ellington:

My little brown book
With the silver binding
How it keeps reminding me
Of a memory
That's haunting me

In some quiet nook
I go through its pages
And peruse this ageless tale
Of a love that failed
To ever become true

I often ache for the highway and lost loves and lost good times....beautiful song by Aztec 2 Step, circa 1972 or so:

I remembered you to the highway signs
The colored lights and the highway lines
I said hello to your friends so kind
And told them you were fine

Here is a Mary Black's version of a melancholy song about the end of childhood and entering the adult world of work. Growing up in an area where my ancestors were involved in coal mining, it has a special pull for me.

WW II nostalgia at its peak. Sung by Dame Vera Lynn, who died a few years ago at the age of 103.

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn
Remember how she said that we would meet again, some sunny day………..
Vera, Vera, ……. what has become of you……….
Does anybody else in here feel the way I do??????

This one deals with longing/lust, brilliant lyrics and music. The chorus:

And so I succumb to cinnamon, sweat, and rum
Laughing with stars in your eyes and your hair undone
And I pray one day our stars align so I might hold you one more time
And succumb to cinnamon, sweat, and rum
