Some journalist said there’s a chance the board of trustees votes to not let UConn travel to the tournament. While personally I think the chances are zero that actually happens just wanna put it out there that it might be a possibility.

You seem to be unfamiliar with logic or dictionaries. The reality is that zoonotic infections do not magically start as highly infectious diseases in the first human they infect. The case of HIV is illustrative -- it's thought to have crossed from monkeys to humans in Africa in the 1920s, then it needed 50 years of evolution within humans before it became a dangerous disease. The only way for a germ to be so well adapted from the get-go at infecting humans as this one is, is if it was engineered.

The key datum is that the closest other known virus has only 88% homology to the new virus, but, no copy of this virus anywhere in the world has less than 99.98% homology to any other.

The bottom line, this virus is so different from any other known virus, human or animal, that there is no reasonable way it could have evolved from any known virus. Either there is a completely unknown virus that took a completely unknown path in hopping to humans, and was somehow magnificently adapted to humans without ever having been in a human; or it was engineered.

Again, I think the answer will become obvious as researchers look into the protein structure of the virus. If it was engineered, it will be possible to trace the pieces back to their origins. We'll know soon enough.

if this was really true and it was indeed a silent undiagnosed rampant epidemic, there would be literal boatloads of people dying of “strange respiratory illnesses” with no obvious cause everywhere.
