Some Guy: UConn close to signing Hurley

Bob Sr. looked over at the UConn players and said, “I think they need to get bigger. They’re not as physically strong. I thought I’d see some kids thicker.”

Is that Hurley Sr quote out of context or is he just a curmudgeon? Did I read somewhere else on here that Uconn never got one of his players? Did we even get a single NJ recruit over the years?

Not out of context, nor was it a curmudgeonly comment.

He's blunt and a hard , and that's an absolutely accurate assessment of our guys. From his comments, Danny clearly agrees.

Have you seen our players? That comment is 100% accurate.

I had posted this earlier in another thread. As i recall, we were down around 20 at the half. great game

The "down 20" game at Pitt. was four years earlier. DONNY Marshall was suspended for that game due to his "slapping" incident the previous game vs St John's at the HCC.

It's a great article. 10/10 would recommend. and since the original tweet didn't show up, here's the relevant clip about that game.

:swoon:

Of course it’s accurate. Or team flat out sucked this year in every way possible. I just thought it was funny that Hurley Sr felt the need to call it out at his sons press conference accepting the job. Perhaps someone asked him a specific question about the team, I don’t know.

Uh, okay. I think it's safe to assume somebody asked him his thoughts on the team/program, how else would they get a quote from him?

I'm imaging he just looked them all up and down and made the comment unprovoked and a reporter just overheard him.

I'm joking, of course, but it would have been funny if that was the case

It's hard work not being a smart- sometimes. How do people usually end up being quoted in a newspaper?

And they will rise when the new poll comes out next week as they also beat Liberty who was ranked 10th I believe.

... 11th but UConn needs to handle Central Michigan tomorrow on tired legs first.

Thanks for looking Liberty's ranking up, i was too lazy lol but hopefully they were able to rest some starters today. This team appears to be one of, if not, the most talented teams they have ever had. We'll really be able to tell when they place BC in a few weeks. Have only ever beat BC once, back in 2012.

Must have not seen Cobb.

You'd have to be blind not to make that observation.

Meh, i live off of the stuff. Its bad, but its like taking alcohol away from someone who drinks a gallon of vodka a day. If you take my caffeine away I'll die. I've built up a tolerance, so it has little affect on me.. Just keeps the blood flowing through my veins.

Just say no to drugs kids.
What do you think caffiene is, a vitamin?
