Damn that’s a lot of views of a thread.

What was Diallo even ranked in that class?

Cool.

Not bad.

Definitely could've used him and Zach Brown.

Last season is an entirely different conversation with those 2.
If kids weren't worried (rightly) that KO would be fired, he might have landed Bamba. The unsuccessful seasons created a death spiral for KO that would have been nearly impossible to pull out of: bad seasons lead to players thinking he may not be there long, a dearth of talent coming in leading to more bad seasons...

It shouldn't have affected one and done's like Bamba. In theory of course.

at least with Diallo (and some of the projected multi-year recruits) it made some sense since he did like a half red-shirt at UK first.

Diallo thought he was going going to be one semester and done.

that would make it even less likely it was about KO's job security.

That was more the "nobody wants to play on a crappy team" thing. Likely the same with Bamba.

It's the Morelli's and other good but multi-year players we missed on that fit the narrative.

Agreed.

Bamba was really what this team lacked anyway. Classic uconn big.

Hence why i'm not obsessed with pulling Carigan out of the JUCO ranks.

If Ollie had spend more time following up on committed recruits, we wouldn't have lost them, which would have resulted for less need for taking the best available grad transfers, which would have resulted in more wins, which mean he would have kept his job.

Some of that seemed like possibly BS.

Other posters mentioned that there were multiple photos of him at MAL games, certainly more than the one reported in that scathing ESPN article.

Maybe there's still some merit to it, but at the same time, how much coddling do these kids need? Especially when everyone is in-season.

It's speculation but we have kids saying that it was a factor. If kids need to be "coddled" to get them in the door, that was a big part of what KO was getting paid for. If Calhoun made time for it, and he did, KO certainly should have.

I shouldn't have to scroll down to see this thread. you guys need to do your job.
