I get that they're former conference mates with Xavier and hold them in high regard, but this would be like us telling each other that, hypothetically, we couldn't understand why a coach would want to go to, say, Michigan St., when West Virginia's job just opened. It's nutty.

So you are saying that you are a Kevin Ollie fan and not really a UConn fan?

I would think that UConn getting a coach who has built 2 other programs up considerably would be welcome news.
We have known that for a long time. He isn't the only one. There are a few people who are anxiously awaiting our first bad loss or first streak of losses under our new coach so they can say, "I told you so, should have been patient." And they will repeat the mantra when anyone criticizes the guy, which will happen because he is human. People criticized Calhoun too but never did they rally in large numbers for his head like we saw with Ollie. Same with Geno. The guy is great but not infallible. But the Ollie fans are just waiting for people to criticize Hurley so they can label those people whiners or complainers or pessimists or cynics or whatever.

... 11th but UConn needs to handle Central Michigan tomorrow on tired legs first.
Thanks for looking Liberty's ranking up, i was too lazy lol but hopefully they were able to rest some starters today. This team appears to be one of, if not, the most talented teams they have ever had. We'll really be able to tell when they place BC in a few weeks. Have only ever beat BC once, back in 2012.
I follow the team pretty closely... They man handled CMU (13-1 after 3) - w/ a weekend sweep (Liberty Pitt and CMU) they should bounce up nicely.

Isn't this sort of like Crash Davis holding the minor league home run record when there is a thread on this site with over 18,000 posts and nearly 2 million views?

We don't need casual fans like you. Thanks for your interest in UCONN basketball as we get back to being a player in the college basketball landscape and not the laughing stock.
Let's not be rude. His retreat to the St. J's board likely increases the average IQ of both forums, so everyone's a winner here.

That one's a weird dynamic over there. The only thing he gets criticized for is being too 'unseamly' or 'undignified' in his comments--sometimes even too hard on the girls, which is hilarious. But mostly it is, 'Geno should never be questioned in any way whatsover. he does not make mistakes'.

Indeed. To be fair, the guy has won 11 titles so the criticism had better be solid. Not just the typical whining of 80 year olds that don't like how "mean" he is. Still, you CAN criticize him over there. You may be attacked for it but it IS allowed. What is not allowed is to say ANYTHING negative about a former player, an opposing player, an opposing coach, a fan of another team or, god forbid, @HuskyNan ! You will get banned quickly by the big brothers if you criticize Nan for anything or even so much as disagree with her.

P.S. I stand by my comments that the women's forum is sterile and often boring as a result.

In fairness to Nan, can you imagine having that job? Holy hell it's gotta be like hearding cats.
I'm sure. But the effort required depends on your own tolerance. If you are a germ-o-phobe, you can't complain about cleaning all the time. Tolerate some germs and life becomes manageable. That board doesn't have to be all rainbows and unicorns. It doesn't have to be filled with nothing but "good fans" and "good sports". I mean, Jesus, accept that there are different strokes and manage the manageable.

But, but, but he is an Ivy League grad.

I’m hopeful Hurley does well. Don’t want him to fail to make KO look better.

But if he struggles I have little doubt who the lead whiners will be.

There were multiple problems the past several seasons and not every problem was about KO.

If a guy can’t coach he’s gone. If a player can’t stay cool he’s gone. If a guy can’t hold his liquor he’s gone. If a child has a tantrum it’s disciplined. Bad behavior should never be approved.

There were many of us who wanted to see change but avoided expressing it to avoid validating whining dispositions. Losing seasons, losing by twenty or more points in many games, biatching after every play or every game are all bad looks.

Funny thing is some of the complainers calling out fans wanting to see Hurley fail were the same fans who never posted when the team under KO had a decent game. That’s the ultimate expression of wanting the team to fail to get the wish of replacing KO.

I felt the hand writing was on the wall and the AD was going to take the action it took. So put me on the outs for not joining the biatching group while we were waiting for things to happen.
