i'd say they have to drop to 4 - Baylor, UCONN, Stanford, and then ND. do they only drop to 3? or drop further? maybe behind Duke and possibly Miami?

#3. They have wins over UCONN, Kentucky, and Duke.

CT and ND switch. They only have two losses, but one to an unranked team, so they will drop. But they only have two losses, so oops, Stanford has only one, so maybe they have to drop to 4.

Did anyone notice Rebecca's comments during the MI/MD game? She said three teams were a lock for the final four - Baylor, UConn, and ND.

She said it was a tossup for the final spot between Miami, Maryland, Duke, Kentucky, Tenn., and Stanford. Kind of a dis for Stanford, no?

Stanford only has one win over a top 25 team, TN, and that win is looking less impressive every day. Stanford did beat a ranked TX, but that was game one, and evidence shows (8 losses in last twelve games) that the early ranking by TX was unwarranted.

It will be interesting to see which of those teams will be seeded in the West with Stanford. Personally, I think two of those teams should be seeded with Stanford. That would be interesting.

seriously? The #2 team loses to an unranked team and you don't see them dropping?

I can't believe they don't drop a few places. also can't wait to see if WV gets rewarded in the rankings .....

wow ... this makes the game on the 27th all that much more interesting :)

ND should drop to 4 for losing to a non ranked team. If that happens and UConn beats ND on the 27th at UConn then ND could drop out of the top 4. But they wont. Watch ND drop to 3 UConn move up to 2. With only 2 losses UConn losing to Baylor and ND and ND losing to Baylor and WVa a non ranked team they fall one place to 3. If UConn beats ND in Hartford on the 27th then that sets up one seeds Baylor UConn Stanford and ND with a possbile matchup at the FF Baylor ND and UConn Stanford.

We will soon know. What is interesting to me for WV is that this is a second win against a ranked team. Stamford may have beaten Texas and Tennessee but none of the other PAC 12 teams have beaten a single rank team. Maybe ND falls to 3rd - we'll know tomorrow.

They'll be #4.

Despite this loss, I think voters will recognize that there is still a big gulf between the top 4 teams and everybody else. IMO, the loss will simply result in them being 'demoted' to the lowest spot in that group.

I think they drop to 3. While unranked, WVU is tough, well coached, and dangerous.

Some voters may not drop them. Others will drop them to 4. I see them a little ahead of Stanford in the voting.

Texas is a bottom feeder..... no big deal in beating them. Stanford's other best win is their win over Gonzaga.

Don't think WV should have been unranked, but I will concede my bet is a long odds bet by most conventional wisdow in WCBB. You do occasionally see this lack of movement in men's game rankings precisely because upsets are so routine.

If the voters have a sense of proportion, ND winds up 3rd. It's unrealistic to think Stanford's accomplishments are greater.

The only reason I'm hesitating to believe that they will drop is because they beat US. Their only other loss before today was Baylor.

Things might stay status quo.

Nah, voters are of the "what have you done for me lately?" stripe.

Plus, voters put a lot of emphasis on home court vs road wins. This was a BAD loss for ND for numerous reasons.

Suspect you are right Nan. Besides, it makes for good copy. I just wonder if we start to see some divergence between the Coaches Poll and the What Have You Done For Me Lately Bunch.

Bingo. It is a quick, down and dirty hit the repeat button kind of presser vote thing...which is pretty much what goes on in that poll.
