That's a big ask, but the table is set for him...Give me RJ Cole every day of the week. He's going to be a Kemba-like legend in the next few weeks.

The Villanova shot was definitely a Kemba-esque moment. In order to approach full Kemba status, he's gonna have to cut down a couple nets though. Would love to see it.That's a big ask, but the table is set for him...
Home vs Road is very different in college basketball.Nembhard out for the Jays - and if they look like they did against PC the other night, Huskies roll.
Need to factor in Hawkins or some random bench guy scoring 50 pts also.Home vs Road is very different in college basketball.
We should win, but they'll likely be much tougher than they were against PC.

The Daniels/Lamb guy.Need to factor in Hawkins or some random bench guy scoring 50 pts also.
Love this, back to reality and some good perspective.4 - 1
Posting in this thread for some much-needed perspective after a dissapointing loss. If you'd have told me we would be 4-1 after these last five games when I started this thread, I would be thrilled. We've beaten two good tournament teams, one championship contender, and one bottom feeder. We lost one game to a tournament team on the road by one basket (Quad 1 loss). Have to be happy with that.
Let's beat DePaul on Senior night and make it 5-1 over the last 6 games of the season.
here are calhoun's records over the years according to wiki:Love this, back to reality and some good perspective.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong because I don’t have a photographic memory, but I’m pretty sure 13-6 (if we beat DePaul) would have been a very solid record for most of Jim Calhoun teams in the big east. We can’t undermine what Hurley has been able to do in a short amount of time, and in a year where we have SEVEN teams likely to make the tournament, it’s seriously a phenomenal season so far. This league is tough, the nation knows it. We shouldn’t be far off from a 4 seed with a strong finish still. Maybe even a 3.
What about Calhoun's 4th season? Hurley is in his 4th season. In Calhoun's 5TH season 1990-1991 the team was 9-7 losing to ST. John's and Syracuse twice, and spit with Providence. I would say that Dan Hurley at 12-6 (could be 13-6 or 12-7) is on the right track.
No matter, the comparison is dumb. Hurley ain’t Calhoun. And they’re in completely different situationsWhat about Calhoun's 4th season? Hurley is in his 4th season.
Pretty much on target counting Kalimantan in the first half, Kalkbrenner in the second!Need to factor in Hawkins or some random bench guy scoring 50 pts also.
Maybe I’m a loser but I’d prefer to withhold the “we’re back” comments until we win some games in March.Hurley doesn't have to be Calhoun. He has to be Hurley.
He inherited a dead program and made it competitive and nationally relevant in 3 years.
Winning an NCAA championship is basically a fluke on it's face. 6 games back to back. It's as much about matchups and bounces, as it is "who's better."
If you want to win, you have to get there and get a good seed (unless you're Shabazz and the #7). Hurley is doing the heavy lifting - he turned the program around and is getting us a top 5 seed. Back to back dances after being a joke of a program in the AAC.
Also, there's no way we're back in the Big East this quick without someone like Hurley making those demands. Football was driving the bus until he spoke up.
I would say the 6 game test was passed with flying colors - especially if they win Saturday.
Either way you're slated for the bye, and you're going to line-up with either SHU/Marquette and PC or Nova to get to the final.
Big picture: we're back. Be happy.
5-1. I probably would have said 5-1 or 4-2. I did say that 3-3 would have been very disappointing considering the schedule. We go 3-3 book it.
Ah, thanks for bumping this thread, I completely forgot.5-1. I probably would have said 5-1 or 4-2. I did say that 3-3 would have been very disappointing considering the schedule.
I'm pretty sure that team got the last at-large bid that year.In Calhoun's 5TH season 1990-1991 the team was 9-7 losing to ST. John's and Syracuse twice, and spit with Providence. I would say that Dan Hurley at 12-6 (could be 13-6 or 12-7) is on the right track.
Yeah, Calhoun inherited 2 NBA players. No matter, the comparison is dumb. Hurley ain’t Calhoun. And they’re in completely different situations
IIRC They beat Shaq's LSU in first round, lost to J. Jackson's OSU in second.I'm pretty sure that team got the last at-large bid that year.
That wasn’t an attempt to say any situation was easier or more difficult. Just differentYeah, Calhoun inherited 2 NBA players.
You do not RC. Please research and adjust.IIRC They beat Shaq's LSU in first round, lost to J. Jackson's OSU in second.
Im so glad i was wrong. 3-3 wouldve been brutal. 5-1 was great but that Crayton loss was brutal.5-1. I probably would have said 5-1 or 4-2. I did say that 3-3 would have been very disappointing considering the schedule.
Are you sure? Probably close since they were an 11 seed. Beat LSU and then Xavier. Lost to 2 seed Duke in the Sweet 16.I'm pretty sure that team got the last at-large bid that year.
What about Calhoun's 4th season? Hurley is in his 4th season.
No. Pretty sure. At the time I went through the 12 and lower seeds and they all seemed like auto-bids and I figured Shaq was the highest 6th seed. But it's up on Wikipedia and it looks like New Mexico was lower than them. Are you sure? Probably close since they were an 11 seed. Beat LSU and then Xavier. Lost to 2 seed Duke in the Sweet 16.
Terrible comparison. Both situations are not the same.Let's compare when Hurley & Calhoun when Hurley is in his 4th season as a member of the Big East.
