My guess is a lower level mid major.

I love how the the term “mid major” has lost all meaning.

A “lower level mid major” is just lower level.

CCSU is not a mid major.
Bryant is not a mid major

I seem to remember the origins of the term being in the 80s/90s when teams from CUSA/Metro (who are now mostly P5 teams) made unexpected noise. But i could be wrong.
