4 titles for UConn in the past 20 years. How many for Duke or UNC?

You are absolutely delusional and/or an idiot if you think UConn mens bball is any where near Duke or UNC. I bet you're so delusional you think UConn MBBall is better than KY and Kansas too... You must be a child or are completely ignorant of the game and history. You're the typical ignorant blowhard with no perspective.

History lesson. Final 4's MBBall
UNC 19
KY 17
Duke 16
Kansas 14
UConn 5

Learn about the game before making stupid statements on the prestige of programs.

If 20 years is too short a time frame, let's go back 40 years for championships.
Duke -5
UConn - 4
UNC - 4
UK - 4
Indiana - 3
Louisville - 3
Kansas - 2

There's a few caveats if you go back too far, y'know. First, you'd have to include UCLA, and they'd blow everybody out for championships. If you go back even another half-dozen years, you have to consider what effects racial discrimination had on championship success (UK didn't have a black player until Tom Payne in, I believe, the 1970-71 season.) And, let's face it, when you're talking about a sport played by college kids - increasingly in this day and age, by college frosh and sophs who then go pro - then, going back 40 years isn't so much "history" as "ancient history".

UConn is johnny come lately programs. They are not in the ball park of these other programs. Also, their level of inconsistency is astonishing.

Great point @pinotbear. KY would have at least one more Championship if not for an enlightened coach Don Haskins of Texas Southern now UTEP. A Haskins team with 5 black starting players beat a KY squad with a guy named Pat Riley to win an NCAA championship in 1966 as depicted in the movie Glory Road.

What team somebody cheers for is irrelevant to the points made. But, it irks you b/c since you couldn't refute the points and didn't like the truth. You only want to know the info so you can try to attack that team b/c you lost on the facts. Classic tactics of mental inferior people, distraction attempts. Now run along and leave discussions like this to people versed on the facts.

LOL. You clearly have learned nothing from 5 years of feeding each others delusions on getting into a P5. It's not happening for the reasons stated and you all get butt hurt over it. Now go study for your exams in what surely is a useless major. You're clearly not bright. Your parents are looking forward to you moving back in soon enough.

Pot, meet kettle? P5 conferences are still very interested in us, believe it or not. Do you have anything better to do with your life?

LOL. You people can't refute facts so to distract from the facts you don't like, you start obsessing over something like what team someone is a fan of? Btw, the delusion and arrogance is hilarious. UConn would give their lives to be in the ACC or any other P5. NOBODY WANTED THEM EVEN WITH BEGGING!!!! THOSE ARE THE FACTS! Finally, you do know the ACC's premier sport is mens bball.
Power 5 is about football nothing else. Every time it is brought up for another sport all it does is make me laugh. It is BECAUSE of football when will people understand that! I hope I typed this slow enough for you! The fact is they can say Uconn FB sucks and it does and that is why there not in. But dont bring up BB because between mens and womens bb since 1999 the Connectcut programs have 14 NCs and All the teams in the ACC combined are not even close! Now that is Hilarious!!!

You are correct that it is all about football. Most of the arguement is about football on field success. Example is Rutgers they were picked for cable boxes/ New York market for the B-10 network and being AAU. Uconn short D1 history is better then Rutgers. As bad as uconn football has been we could still be competitive against at least half of the P5 schools. A few years of recruiting as a P5 and we would improve greatly. Again this has been beaten to death on the CR board.

No they aren't. You're delusional. If they wanted UConn the P5's could have had them anytime in the last 5 years. THEY DON'T WANT THEM B/C THEY DON'T ADD ENOUGH IN WHAT MATTERS IN EXPANSION. They aren't a marquee program that draws nationally..a la Nebraska and they aren't a big market that any P5 cares about. UConn will begging the ACC, there only desperate hope to join a P5, every time any talk of expansion occurs. ACC will keep saying no thanks.

New Jersey is a hot bed for Div.1 recruits in the North East for FB also. It is just funny when they talk Power 5 and basketball. Even there BB coaches are naive about it.

Rutgers is terrible at sports. Anyone catch the scores of Rutgers vs. Michigan, Ohio State, or Penn State? We could have done that, and at least we bring national championships in other sports.
Before Schiano left for the NFL, he built Rutgers into a pretty respectable program, the AD didn't shoot high enough when replacing him.

You clearly don;t understand what has driven conference realignment. It's all about football and tv markets. UConn fball is horrible and it's not in a big tv market. MD and Rutgers while not having great fball programs were in great tv markets. UConn's best chance and best fit to join a P5 Conference is the ACC eventually. That would occur possibly if ND joined in fball, not likely happening soon and then ACC wanted 16 teams
That may not be as far off as you may think, NBC is seriously rethinking its deal with ND, the implosion during the Brian Kelly era is having a major financial impact on the school.

NBC is rethinking nothing. ND finances are not hurt, they makes a ton of money win or lose, they sell out 80K stadium. They have ridiculous merchandise sales revenue, etc.. The reason ND has little interest in joining a conference is they make so much money being independent. NBC renewed the ND deal thru 2025 for a reported 15M/yr for 7 games a yr. ND is NBC's only access to college football. ND pulls good ratings and when they have marque games they pull outstanding ratings. The ACC deal assures a certain number of marquee match ups for NBC with ACC schools FSU, Clemson, Vtech, Miami,etc.... ND also has the long standing series with Pac 12 schools either Standford or USC at home alternating years. ND also has home and home series with big draw teams like Mich St and Michigan that are long time rivals and big draw games. They have extraneous series with Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Ohio State scheduled which are also big tv draw games. Then, even Navy who they beat 95% of the time draws good ratings b/c of tradition of the rivalry length and the military aspect. NBC is in no way rethinking the ND deal, it's great for NBC and ND.
