The thing people are failing to see is that one or two players make all the difference. Boat and a freshman DHam weren't enough. However, maybe a freshman Adams, along with A soph Hamilton will be. It is a chemistry issue. You need parts that work together. These parts weren't a great fit but next year, the formula will change.
I'm really not particularly worried. I think we have some horses. We just need a PG that can contribute something and a wing to help open things up and maybe more importantly, to take Hamilton's place if he is two and done. I am looking for a commitment from Brown, a serviceable point guard and some improvement from Brimah, Cassell, Facey, Lubin and Purvis. I am thinking Calhoun just isn't there physically anymore and never will be. If he can be his freshman self, it would be a big help. Just can't figure out why he seems so limited still.
If you need any proof of how crazy chemistry can be in determining the success of a team, think of 2011. We were left for dead by the media and frankly, by most of the fans, including me. Nonetheless, I tuned in to Maui to watch us paste UK. I never saw it coming and neither did you. It was the change in chemistry that made that team good rather than the steaming pile it was supposed to be. Now you can say, "well that was because of Kemba" but Kemba wasn't Kemba in 2010. Things change. We've got at least two game changing guys in Brimah and Hamilton. If they improve and get stronger and they click with Adams, we could be very good again. Yes, we need more players but the truth is, this class is one good player away from being a hell of a class and I'm pretty sure we will get Brown. I think the word that he is trying to reclassify bodes very well for us. He is being told we need him and wants the job. Same thing that happened with Bazz.
