I agree, but if no new info is coming out, why post off topic things on this thread? Most of us are here for recruiting and recruiting updates, so the last thing we want is nonsense on a recruiting thread.
It's just the nature of discussion boards - happens in pretty much any thread that generates 200+ posts.

How do we stop these recruiting threads from turning into these blah blah blah blah bullshitttt conversation?
I haven't seen blah blah blah until now. But I get your drift. Slogging through all the tangents to get the nuggets is difficult for those of us on a time schedule. However, as @tcf15 points out this has been going on forever and complaining about it only adds to the slogging process. The complainers, of all people should recognize that this won't change and not make the slogging any more difficult.

This summed up the situation perfectly. People love being fed BS on here.

IMO it's way too early in his recruiting process. He's made it known he wants national offers and now has Duke tracking him. Once the summer is over we'll have a much better idea where things stand with him.

On the Jackson front.. Oregon assistant Michael Mennenga has deep ties to the Toronto AAU scene and must be the reason they're getting all these Canadians.
So both Maryland and Oregon have a history with his AAU team. Hopefully KO can overcome it. I'd kill to get this guy.
You're one of my favorite posters. I like this board's testosterone induced high octane peeing spats, but I would hope you don't lower your standard by feeling the need to put people down versus informing them and us where you disagree with them and why. @Gurlyman is in my top three because he almost always stayed above the fray.

Are you really posting that statement?

Lol, silly goose.

Kentucky almost every year is a top 10 team if not top 3.

Just about every game is on CBS (SEC contract w CBS) or ESPN.

Kentucky probably gets the most national attention over any other program.

It's not about comparing SEC to the American, if it was then it's a different story.

It's KENTUCKY, not Auburn or Tennessee.

The other poster said VS ANOTHER SEC opponent
Yeah Kensucky is on when playing another big time opponent across the country BUT any of its SEC games draw crap
I really don't see the SEC being any better than the AAC in bball

It doesn't really matter, ita about the fact that their games are constantly on network TV (despite being against awful opponents), and more importantly it's about the perception of exposure and elitism which is what these kids want in the age of "super teams".

Ummm.Ebonz....earlier you wrote:

"Play for Kentucky or Duke and play a big game almost every night and major networks that is putting out 3+ players in the first round almost every year. Or play in the American conference..."

Doesn't "play a big game every night" refer to your conference schedule???? Especially since you then immediately wrote: "Or play in the American Conference".

thank you for explaining it better than I do.

The SEC is better than the AAC, though probably was a lot closer than most people think last year, at least according to KenPom.

Exactly. Ollie has done a tremendous job recruiting but it is just impossible for UConn to compete with the big name Power 5 schools when it comes to the Top 50 players.

Do you really think that? How many top 50 players has Ollie landed the last few years?

Jalen
Rique
Hamilton
Durham
Larrier via transfer
Brown before he decommitted

Firmly in the mix for JJ with some heavy weights...

Come on mannn

Have you ever been on a corporate mass email where someone accidentally replies to all and then 49 people reply to all to ask that no one else replies to all?

This thread is a similar experience with everyone bitching about others bitching too much.

You aren't one of my favorite posters as you stay out of the fray too much for my liking. I want people who dig in, get dirty, lie and cheat. You suck!

This, I don't know how people were questioning this, when every friggin breath by Cal or one of his players becomes national ESPN news. People write quickly here I assume, or your job is just sitting around slowly writing carefully crafted UConn forum posts, so don't take people so literally. EBonz saying "big games" to me pretty obviously meant nationally televised games that ESPN promotes.

I don't support EBonz and have no opinion of him, other than the fact that he's annoying and a dullard (for humor!). He jumped the shark with that whole big T thing, all that effort to get a nickname to stick on a player that wasn't even committed to the program? but I'll be damned if that gets me biased against him in other situations.

Kentucky and Duke's games have a standard of National attention or exposure that we simply can't compare our Huskies to, that's a fact and its something they have over us on the recruiting trail. We have our advantages over them too, but they don't tend to work for the top 10 talent guys

so, who's got news on "Slammin' J-Dog Jackson"?

I will give you Adams, Gilbert, and Hamilton but Durham is a big ? and interest in him fell greatly with his 2nd knee injury, Larrier is a transfer so that doesn't count, and Brown decommitted.

What does it matter if interest fell with his 2nd knee injury? He had already committed to us.

Whatever it takes for a troll to support his garbage argument, I guess.

You still have to recruit transfers. Larrier was a hot commodity when he was on the market.

I generally disagree that we can't compete for top 50 players. We are firmly in the mix for diallo, Richards, obiagu, and MAL. Don't think it's inconceivable we get 2/4.

None of this is unique to UConn in the AAC or under Ollie. Calhoun, playing the Big East, had the same issues. Over time, I think the league will be a bigger and bigger problem (if we don't escape).

We have no trouble getting top 50 talent post-recruiting sanctions. Adams, Gilbert, Larrier, Purvis, Hamilton, and Durham are all top 50, and like KemBuckets said, we are in hard on a bunch of other top 50 guys. Recruiting is a non-issue for UConn, which is impressive given our conference affiliation,

There are over 500 transfers each year, why are there still some of ya'll who pretend that getting transfers isn't a part of recruiting?

Yeah, transfers are still recruits. Regardless if they are top 50 or whatever, KO and UConn had to beat out some solid competition for their last three transfers:

Larrier chose UConn over Maryland.
Gibbs chose UConn over Ohio State, Pitt, Notre Dame, etc.
Miller chose UConn over Cal and Michigan.

You're off to a very poor start here.

"Calhoun didn't do it" (except for Big Ed), so therefore people think it isn't worthwhile.

How do we have one of the top recruiting classes in the nation if we can't recruit?

We have trouble with top 10 kids. Maybe even 20

We've had very few top 10 recruits ever.

You think back to the early JC years, and most of our stars have been in the 20-50 range.

It's amazing to think what JC built here and KO's continuing to do a great job at bringing them in.
