Look up the definition of easy offense in the dictionary and a picture of today’s team would appear. This is what max Uconn can be with all parties healthy and performing in sync.

Ecstatic to see Aubrey out there, she is going to play a big role down the road.

Not sure who has a quicker release, Azzi or Allie, both do an amazing job of getting their feet set and balanced before they shoot.

Jana continues to improve bit by bit and game by game. Her presence in the middle is becoming more noticeable.

Shade seems to be getting more comfortable in her role, and I see some consistency showing up, which just makes her even better than she already is.

All around great job in both ends of the court for our Huskies!

I don’t have many gripes, except for one: Perimeter defense. We gave up so many open looks (26) and we absolutely cannot do that against Tennessee or SC. Tenn especially can get really hot
Are you serious? 4 of 26 from three point land? And of those 4, how many were in the 4th quarter, you know, when our top 6 or 7 players were on the bench? Who cares how many they chuck up there when most were what I would call desperation shots?

It’s been a problem all season, and there were multiple times out of those 26 where the girl had time to set up and it wasn’t a desperate shot.

I’m not being unreasonable to say that perimeter defense is still an issue.

They were wide open is the problem. Normally good shooters didn’t make those looks.

And it wasn’t like UCONN decided not to guard them, the defense got lost behind a screen or just completely on the wrong girl. It was unintentional.
Seton Hall shoots an anemic 28% from the arc, not including today's 4/26. Their best 3-pt shooters are Eads and Masonius, neither of which had room to breath today. The other players did get to shoot some open 3's, which they missed consistently, and that was probably the game plan. Let those players shoot until they proove they can make them.

That's why you have a scout on every team you play. The coaches go over it in detail and then you execute it. Sometimes you don't waste your time guarding people from the arc, who just can't make shots from the arc.

when will other Big East teams be competitive? 2nd place Creighton lost to UCLA by 29.
Amazingly Season Hall 65 in the NET rating, #3 in Big East, and will be a bubble team for NCAA, probably just missing.

When you shoot 50-60% overall and from 3, you are going to wipe out teams.

Few Thoughts:
*a treat of a game to watch.
*Everybody ate.
*When the big 3 are clicking it is very difficult to play against UConn.
*Paige's 2,000 (and 2,001) points came on a mid-range jump shot which is appropriate as she's got one of the deadliest mid-range games in the country.
*it was great having Aubrey back and that past break points were vintage Aubrey.
*The passing game was outstanding (26 assists on 35 field goals) and made at time to a truly beautiful game.
*The first 3 quarters of the game were probably the best of the season.
*Now, that it seems we have the full team that can play (I doubt we'll see CD play this season and we know that Yana is out for the season) it will be fascinating to see how this team will grow and improve further.
*Concern: some struggles with the press and we know that TN will press the whole game.
*Bring on Nova.

They were wide open is the problem, and it wasn’t on purpose.

The defense got lost behind a screen or just completely on the wrong girl. It was unintentional.

Like I said, not many negatives except for the one thing that’s been a problem all season. But with Aub back, our defense is much better with additional athleticism.
Seton Hall as a team hits 28% of their threes. Masonius is their best shooter from the perimeter and she had zero attempts today

They won’t
For reasons too numerous to mention they cannot
Recruit players needed to compete with p-4 teams
If they find and under recruited player that becomes a standout they will move on to higher level(see Villanova Marquette and DePaul)

Too bad Geno didn't press the 2nd half. Could have won by 100.
True but SH continued to press quite a bit in the 2nd half, when our top 6 or 7 players were relaxing on the bench. I guess the coach, who I like, was running a practice using UConn as his practice players.

I understand that.

What I’m trying to say is, there were times where a player would be on a Seton girl, who was trying to get open at the three. Our player would get lost while genuinely trying to guard the perimeter, and the girl got an open look.

Imagine this is a better 3 point shooting team. Our players are trying to cover the perimeter and they keep getting lost.

If UCONN wasn’t actually trying to guard the 3 because SH is a bad shooting team, then fine. But today, it looked like they were genuinely trying to guard the arc and they gave up a lot of open looks.

You got a problem with a team pressing when they're down 60? Fine with me; pressing when you're up 50 does bother me.

There are certain players you just love to watch. For me one of them is Aubrey. She looked stronger to me also which I was delighted to see. She is a great timed leaper and she just knows where to go to get the ball. When she is on the break she should get the ball. Her strides are so long and her jumping ability is so good that when open, give it.

Our point guards do not usually pass the ball up ahead and try to initiate the break by dribbling. You are losing the opportunity to get transition baskets when you do that but it happens at least a dozen times a game. The best fast break teams in history like the 60s Celts begin and complete it with passes, not dribbling. Even a one second quicker receipt of the ball by a great offensive player, and we have 3 of them, can make all the difference. As an example there was one play where KC had the ball in transition and she passed it up ahead to Azzi, who had a defender on her who was slightly out of position. Azzi got the ball, saw it, and drove right towards the baseline and pulled up for a jumper. She wasn't alone on the shot but the defender was out of position which was the same as being unguarded for a 10 foot shot from Azzi. Money.

First, Gampel is not a friendly environment for visiting team. It is an intimidating place, especially when the student secvtion is full.

Second, Everybody EATS!!!!!!!!!

Third, the throw back uniforms are back. They are my favorite.

A very entertaining game. Great offense and great defense.

I think we got a preview of what this team can do. It's exciting to watch. This team is a definite national championship contender.

Congrats to Paige on scoring 2,000th point and more in 102 games. Unreal.

And welcome back Aubrey Griffin!!!!!!!!!

That was about as good as it gets. Our big three darn near got 20 apiece, Ash and Allie has 3 threes each, Griff played (!!) and looked pretty good, Jana had her moments and everyone scored. Plus we wore my favorite uniform, which should stop being a retro choice and start being the everyday go to uniform. Quite the game. Happy, happy,
I heard them say on the broadcast that these were throwback jerseys, but I didn't hear what era they were from. Can you share your knowledge, @and one ?

Is it even a problem because we have Geno and CD?

Geno and CD’s regular season training program is a lot more impactful than other schools’ training programs through their “tough” conferences. Who, again, has 11 national championships?

And for this young rapidly developing team, they need reps on how to play as a Geno-coached team.
  • And the reps provided by BE opponents may be better for this young team — sort of like practice exams before the harder midterms of TN and SC;
  • Unlike the senior TASSK + Diana team, there is really no downside to the BE conference schedule for this team.
Today, at the practice exam level, this team played vintage beautiful UConn basketball.

What does that have to do with anything? UCLA is undefeated and the number 1 team in the country, so it has beat everyone so far. That says less about Creighton and more about UCLA. Creighton is undefeated in BE play and will probably be the only team to give UConn a relatively close game.

Eads hit 2 threes in the 4th quarter against our least experienced players. I’m not sure why Eads was playing against UConn’s bench, but, whatever. The Huskies still won Q4 anyway

Kaitlyn and KK did not score much today, but had 5 assists each and did a great job on both ends of the floor. I think we will see this dual PG approach to the end as it frees up the big 3 to do their thing - which they did today! Everyone else played well, especially Ash who now has her role down pat, Morgan who is our 1-5 hustler. Just amazing to see again what Aubrey can do, just such an athlete.
