Serah Williams Commits to UConn

Nobody could or can replace Paige! Kayleigh would be a nice addition regardless.
Exciting day with Serah
We will see if a healthy Azzi is ready to replace Paige. ( she has the potential )
She showed against SC that she can take you to the hoop anytime she wanted and also has a really good pull up. As her father stated, that is the real Azzi ( healthy and no hesitation)
We are looking for a player to replace the old Azzi to shoot 3’s and we have three players that may step up led by Ash.

Finally, another realist. Yes, we will be better up front (maybe now 20 ppg), and Sarah will get her 15 - 18 ppg, but outside Azzi (I'll give her 15-18 ppg, because she is going to be doubled every game), where do we get the other 20 -25 ppg we lost with Paige leaving?
I think you need Azzi to step up and take over the Paige points and shot hunting and then Sarah adds a little more and then you need the Serah, Ash, and KK to hit the open shots they will get when everyone is focused on Azzi and Sarah. Azzi was a shot hunter in highschool and would put up 30 on any given night. I think her leadership goal has to be to get back to that after the injuries in preparation for the pros. This is her opportunity to grow with Paige moving on.

Rest of the scoring? Just the averages add up to 97, how many PPG do you think UConn is going to score? The other teams are going to milk the shot clock and limit UConn's possessions so that they can't get enough shots to score that much. And I doubt Auriemma will press BE teams beyond the 1st half.
I got carried away........ I'm pretty confident in those scoring averages for Sarah, Azzi and Serah..........court time is going to add or subtract from the other's scoring averages.........the bottom line is that I expect the team to score just as many points this season as last and maybe more......

starting line up next season:
-Azzi
-Kk
-Sarah
-Serah
-Jana
Not a chance that Serah (Serah Williams) and Jana are both starting or even regularly playing together unless it's against an opponent who has a very tall frontcourt.

As for the concern over PG duties, keep in mind that Sarah (SS) is more than capable of playing point forward. You just need a few sure handed guards to get the ball over midcourt against a press. With the loss of Paige and Kaitlyn, and the addition of Serah (Serah Williams), THIS is now the biggest "need" (if there is one).

OK, I thought Geno had a problem last year figuring out the rotation. Next year, harder. I'm not going to pick a starting line-up, but these are my observations:
  • KK and Ashlyn, based on their bench playing last year, deserve to start for their hard work and attitude, especially having started their first year.
  • With Ash and Azzi, we have only 2 good shooters at the guard position if KK cannot improve her 3 point shooting.
  • Serah and Jana cannot both start. I didn't watch the entire video of her, but what did not see was an outside shot. Like I said, I only watched about half in case I missed it.
Hell, ok, here it goes.
Sarah
Serah
Ashlynn
KK
Azzi

If healthy, I think Yanna will be a huge surprise to everyone. I believe her rebounding alone will be a big deal.

Blanca, Morgan, Allie, Yanna, Caroline, Kelis
What a NIGHTMARE LMA.................................O
Even if Genos brain gets a little slow, even that can't screw up this team.
#7th undefeated season-GET READY
I agree.
And think about the next 5 could be a top 10 team —
At the 1) Kayleigh ( if she commits)
2) Bianca
3) Caroline or Morgan
4) Ice
5) Jana.
Our third team would be pretty strong as well
1) Kelli
2) Allie
3) Morgan
4) Ayanna
5) freshman big from Ireland.

I would expect 14-16 points per game from Serrah, 20-23 points per game from Sarah, 18 - 22 points per game from Azzi, 10 - 12 points per game from Blanca, 10 - 12 points per game from KK, 10 - 12 points per game from Shade, and 6 - 8 points per game from Jana.......hard to predict the rest of the scoring since we don't know who's getting minutes.......as long as there are no serious injuries to Sarah, Serah, Azzi and KK, UConn will be just fine from a scoring standpoint.....
That's an optimistic average of 95-100 points a game. I think the difference will be more shots for Azzi and Sarah and hence more points and another bona fide scoring presence in the paint in Serah. Scoring underneath opens up an awful lot up top with 3s, pull ups and slashing so the more a team has to defend down below with Sarah and Serah/Jana the better it is for the perimeter shooters. Ash is key here but for me, this team changed this past year once KC found her groove from the arc. Then we were impossible to double because we had four 3 point shooters. You really would like three other 3 point threats out there besides Azzi to be unstoppable. You have Sarah and Ash for sure but after a summer of practice who knows. Morgan?Allie? Kelis? KK? Caroline? Or we just go to more driving with Sarah and Blanca? Or we press with waves of defenders? Lots and lots of options.

Hence Kayleigh?

I don't have time to scroll through 6 pages so here's a video about Serah's commitment that I saw that might be of interest if it hasn't already been posted:
I was somewhat confused when I saw this video PRIOR to
Wednesday (today). Unless the producers of the video had some "leaked"
information, I had considered this as some form of "click bait" or
a misunderstanding. DID ANYONE ELSE see the video at least
24 hours before the formal announcement? Just curious what other
saw and what they thought about it. I'm sure happy that it was correct.

It seemed likes click bait AI nonsense that was prepared for the possibility of a Serah commit but released prematurely

I was 'almost' always off on my PROGNOSTICATIONS last season.
Why? Geno's substitution pattern (IMHO) was not to maximize
the score (or MOV = my true nemesis) but to find the optimum
player "mix" for different situations (in the current game and for
future games). Every roster player (again IMHO) bought into
this and they rotated in and out of the games with the objective/
awareness that Geno was, of course, molding the team for March and April.
No ego here... There is no "I" in Team, and no "I" in "FAM-L-Y" (my new
spelling)!!

Who is Bianca? The Boneyard strikes again…

I agree.... with an even better defensive " package". Think of
all the energy to share with KK and all her teammates, not to
mention the dynamo of Kelis.

It appears that Geno & CD solved the "Who will be the Big 3 for next year?" question: Sarah, Azzi, & Serah. It also appears that the Huskies will be able to go 11 - 12 deep in the rotation from the opening game. By next year's Final Four in Phoenix (April 3 & 5), we may also be able to answer, "When was the last time UConn had three women in the Coaches' first team ALL-Americans?"

Also, praying that the current "walking wounded" (Carol, AP, and Morgan) may be able to join in the fun as games begin in November, and Kayleigh Heckel commits before 13:00 tomorrow. That way plans for summer sessions can be announced, and Geno & CD, plus staff can go on a well earned (short) vacation. As Paige would say, "Let's GOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Go Huskies!!!

Do you seriously have a clue of what you're talking about? Azzi is not a replacement for Paige! Azzi was/is already in the starting line-up! Paige and what she brought to this team is not replaceable, although her spot in the starting line-up will be filled by someone. Please don't attempt to "school" someone who knows more about this game and UConn women's basketball and all those who have played for us since 1995.

And regarding the comment you made in another post, Kayleigh if she commits to us will be in the starting line-up.

Lighten up, Francis. JBK offered an opinion that Azzi has the potential to replace Paige in scoring points. An opinion, that all of us are encouraged to offer here on the BY, without the worry of being attacked. That's what folks do when having respectful discourse about topics, regardless of whether they agree.

And instead of attacking you regarding your opinion on Kayleigh, in my opinion, she won't start, however, we won't know that for seven months, assuming she commits to UConn.

just watched the wisc games against Usc(20&7) and osu(20 &17) as I was interested in watching her against top competition
without getting into an evaluation of S W game
a few observations
- this is a very very good basketball player who is fundamentally sound on both ends
-Rebounds exceptionally well
-plays hard all the time
Play pretty much exclusively in the post for Wisconsin
-seem to have the athleticism and skills to play away from the basket
-Her overall game is significantly better than the current post players at Uconn especially on the offensive end
wisc without her, would have been a middle of the road Big East team
appears this is a perfect fit

Whenever it came out it looks and sounds like AI-generated clickbait to me. Notice that there is not a single source sited for any of the assertions. Notice, also, how often they flash a picture of Paige, which is solely intended to draw eyeballs and has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Finally, if you take a look at the She Got Game YouTube page it contains a ton of unsourced provocative videos. I think it unwise to treat this video as an accurate account of how UConn pursued Serah.

I don't need your advice! People can post their opinions without trying to put my down.

And if Kayleigh commits to come here, she's not doing so to ride the bench! She left USC because of that. Wise up!

So Serah was able to announce HER commitment ahead of Talia Goodman and Skim Milkey? Love it. Message sent.
I love how everyone at UConn kept it quiet. Meanwhile, Fulwiley’s commit leaked days ahead of the announcement. And I don’t think it was Fulwiley’s camp who leaked it
