True.
but I still don’t understand the downside of running offensive sets against real opponents, as opposed to practice players who know exactly what’s coming. Seems like unnecessary coach paranoia
Well, you and Hurley have to agree to disagree on that one.

Jackson is not gonna be a scorer..rest assured its not gonna happen...

If nothing improved this is a fact he will need to make his impact on defense as well as passing/rebounding. If he can’t shoot again he’s unfortunately very easily defended.

Quite frankly, when Chief hears about great depth in practice, he thinks no one is separating himself from the crowd like a great scorer does. I think you start with Adama, hope Hawkins ramps up fast and Gaffney breaks loose from his self constraints. Jackson can do a lot of things to help you win but to be extra special he needs to make the 3 in games. Johnson may have a huge upside but it’s going to be tough to get playing time in the way Hurley allocates front court playing time.

you’re getting agitated about us not being able to score in the half court set based on some anonymous poster’s account from their cousin’s friend who is a Rutgers booster who claims that UConn had trouble scoring in the half court set.

What do you think a Rutgers booster is gonna say?

Also, Coach Hurley has said on multiple occasions that he does not run any real offensive sets in these scrimmages.

We’ll have a better 1st hand idea of how our offense looks in less than 10 days!

I was simply stating facts, no agitation. The reality is that we have not been a good perimeter shooting team and our opponents have played zone against us, fact. Even with Bouk, the offense would stall.

He’s not gonna be 15 ppg by any means but i think an 8-10 scorer is realistic. He has the tools to be one cuz he’s so athletic and his handles are good enough he should be able to create his own shot. Plus, his ability to score in transition will be best on the team in theory. I could see him getting 4ish buckets a game for sure if he’s playing starter minutes, no?

I’ll rest assured knowing you have no clue what you’re talking about. He was born and bred for this game

He has many tools no doubt and is a natural in so many aspects. But truth is shooting isn’t one of them and it didn’t look good ever. So he has a clue, you both do. He needs to find a way though like it or not or he will hurt our offense.

If we play a higher tempo offense, then AJax will get his points… If we’re still a slow half-court offense then it may be more of the same.

So the team picke d as #2 in the NEWBIE got dominated by the team projected #8 in the Big 10 but it’s nothing to worry about. Is that about it? The decision to move to the NOOB is looking better all the time. A successful season is getting to the tournament. Nice. Don’t have to worry about staying up late to watch UConn in the Sweet 16.

Good troll. Come tip off time UConn will be UConn. Rutgers will be Rutgers. If you had to pick one, it's not even a fair choice. Love that Steve has picked them out of the mud but they are still dirt.

For all we know, Rutgers probably treated this like a real game and Hurley treated it as a practice with refs and we still only lost by 8 lol. This is why Hurley was pissed about the Harvard score being leaked. He doesn’t want anyone to take away from these scrimmages because he’s not treating them like real games. They’re experimental
