Amida is an NBA talent. He is the prototype athletic big man rim runner and shot blocker the NBA loves.

Amida making the NBA will do wonders for our big man recruiting.

Two of your three points are legit. However, he is nowhere near an NBA talent. His one true skill is shotblocking. However, I'm not convinced he's a guy who has the instincts, strength, IQ to be that type of shotblocker in the NBA. For example, Emeka was one of the great shot blockers in college basketball history. He averaged 4+ a game for three straight years. He was a much better shotblocker than Amida. In the pro's, Emeka averaged under 2 a game.

So if Amida is not going to be this great rim protector, then what exactly does he bring to the table? I loved his enthusiasm and love for UConn, but I just do not think he possesses a skillset that makes him an NBA player; even as a backup. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

Scout's take: "Tall. Needs large gloves. Might be a mitten guy."
This is how you build a resume as an NBA talent producer, one step at a time. This gets me thinking, instead of pictures of our NBA alum wearing their teams' jerseys, the banners in Werth should just be hand shots and hand size stats of our guys.

He'd be a project and I never thought I'd say this but in a league where zones are illegal he might do alright if he has the drive and ambition to improve himself. Any NBA team worth it's salt has the personnel who can teach him some offensive skills. He also gets six fouls before he's done. Lol

As a huge NBA fan I disagree, but always exciting to see our guys get a shot at the least. Brimah really isn't built for the NBA, he got manhandled by mid major bigs, I don't know what element of optimism makes our fans think he will be successful in the world's best pro league.

He can run, jump and play some defense plus he is tall. He has a change and should play in the NBA D-league and work on his boxing out. If he can do that he can be a 10th or 11th man and have a decent career.

He has the large hands for the NBA it sounds like that's a start. If he could catch better with them and hold onto rebounds that would probably help. He can't get a jump hook to the rim in college guessing it may be tougher in the NBA but could be wrong.

Hey never know, but if it ever happens it will be down the road a long way as massive improvement is necessary. Unless of course huskymagic becomes an NBA scout soon?

He needs to be trained to be able to stay on his feet. Honestly if they somehow toughened him up in the core and legs and he was able to stay standing, I think he could be an asset to the right team running the right plays. He could possibly replace JaVale McGee on GS or play meaningful minutes on Boston

I'd say he has a very slim outside chance to play 5 minutes a game in the NBA

If he is ends up being a ten year journey man who gets 10 to 15 minutes a game as a backup, it's still good work if you can find it.

No. If Thabeet couldn't do it AB has no shot.

Yeah, I'm just not seeing what other people are seeing. Plenty of 7' guys have no shot in the NBA.

Thabeet is just missing some things I don't think he'll ever pick up.

Umm, no, he's not.

The NBA game is now played largely on the perimeter, how many teams have trie rim protectors or care?

He was an awful player in a terrible league, he's so many light years away from the NBA.

Do people really think that Brimah can play in the NBA! Did people watch him play this season. He is not a good basketball player, plain and simple. Brimah and Purvis frustrated me more that any UConn players in recent times.
