The men play 4 games in “neutral” Brooklyn, not at GampelSo Gampel is going to be very busy with the First and Second rounds. With the Men playing Friday and Sunday, while the Women playing Saturday and Monday.
A Gampel feel with huge Husky fan base. The men play 4 games in “neutral” Brooklyn, not at Gampel
A “neutral” Madison Square Garden this weekend had about 80% UConn fans. It was awesomeA Gampel feel with huge Husky fan base.
I forgot that the Men's went to mostly "neutral" sites in their tournament. I like it that the top 16 are awarded with basically two home games before traveling. Kind of like rewarding them for their achievements. The men play 4 games in “neutral” Brooklyn, not at Gampel
It’s cheaper for the NCAA, tooI forgot that the Men's went to mostly "neutral" sites in their tournament. I like it that the top 16 are awarded with basically two home games before traveling. Kind of like rewarding them for their achievements.
Well, two in "neutral" Brooklyn and two in "neutral" Boston. The men play 4 games in “neutral” Brooklyn, not at Gampel
The play in game between Auburn and Arizona on Thursday will also be at Gampel. So Gampel is going to be very busy with the First and Second rounds. With the Men playing Friday and Sunday, while the Women playing Saturday and Monday.
Whether at Barclays or MSG, there is nothing more fun (for me) than college basketball in NYC. My mom had old programs from CCNY, Manhattan, etc. from games she attended at the old MSG in the 40s.The men play 4 games in “neutral” Brooklyn, not at Gampel
That’s so awesome!! Nice souvenirs!!Whether at Barclays or MSG, there is nothing more fun (for me) than college basketball in NYC. My mom had old programs from CCNY, Manhattan, etc. from games she attended at the old MSG in the 40s.
Tennessee women play NC State women tomorrow at 4 p.m., - one stays & one goes by 6 pm-ish tomorrowDown to 9 by my count: Alabama, Baylor, Connecticut, Creighton, Duke, Gonzaga, Iowa State, North Carolina State, and Tennessee.
Notably, UConn would already be the last one standing if both tournaments had gone chalk. Every other team had to exceed their seeding to make it happen. As @Vowelguy has a thread on the General Board, I posted this there as well:
On the horizon, #4 Gonzaga women play #1 Texas, #5 Men play #1 Purdue
#3 Connecticut plays #7 Duke, #1 Men play #5 San Diego State
#7 Duke plays #3 Connecticut, #4 Men play #1 Houston
#3 NC State plays #2 Stanford, #11 Men play #2 Marquette
So, by chalk, UConn could be the last one standing after the Sweet 16....
This list mostly from memory? Wow. impressive. Anyone ever tell you that you spend too much time on college basketball? LOL.A sorted listing of these teams according to the sum of their WBB & MBB seedings (I did this quickly and mostly from memory, so let me know if any errors):
4 - UConn (3+1)
7 - S Carolina (1+6)
8 - Texas (1+7), Baylor (5+3), Tennessee (6+2)
9 - Gonzaga (4+5), Iowa St (7+2), N Carolina (8+1)
10 - Creighton (7+3)
11 - Duke (7+4)
12 - Kansas (8+4), Alabama (8+4), Marquette (10+2)
13 - Arizona (11+2)
14 - NC St (3+11), Nebraska (6+8)
15 - Colorado (5+10), Auburn (11+4)
18 - Michigan St (9+9)
20 - Texas A&M (11+9)
22 - Drake (12+10)
27 - S Dakota St (12+15)
NC St women not much of an upset once Brink fouled out (with some of the calls a little questionable but that is another story) However, men played way above their seeding. Marquette helped them a lot, however, as nothing seemed to be working for them. either on offense or defense. Going "cold" can happen to any team at any round in a tournament one and done. Did someone call this March Madness?Gonzaga is out, NC State pulled two upsets to stay in, and either Duke or Connecticut goes out Saturday night. NC State's (mild) upset of Stanford also knocked out the last perfect women's bracket on ESPN.
