Schools with men’s and women’s teams in the Big Dance (merged thread)

As @Vowelguy has a thread on the General Board, I posted this there as well:

On the horizon, #4 Gonzaga women play #1 Texas, #5 Men play #1 Purdue
#3 Connecticut plays #7 Duke, #1 Men play #5 San Diego State
#7 Duke plays #3 Connecticut, #4 Men play #1 Houston
#3 NC State plays #2 Stanford, #11 Men play #2 Marquette

So, by chalk, UConn could be the last one standing after the Sweet 16....

Notably, UConn would already be the last one standing if both tournaments had gone chalk. Every other team had to exceed their seeding to make it happen.

Gonzaga is out, NC State pulled two upsets to stay in, and either Duke or Connecticut goes out Saturday night. NC State's (mild) upset of Stanford also knocked out the last perfect women's bracket on ESPN.

A sorted listing of these teams according to the sum of their WBB & MBB seedings (I did this quickly and mostly from memory, so let me know if any errors):

4 - UConn (3+1)
7 - S Carolina (1+6)
8 - Texas (1+7), Baylor (5+3), Tennessee (6+2)
9 - Gonzaga (4+5), Iowa St (7+2), N Carolina (8+1)
10 - Creighton (7+3)
11 - Duke (7+4)
12 - Kansas (8+4), Alabama (8+4), Marquette (10+2)
13 - Arizona (11+2)
14 - NC St (3+11), Nebraska (6+8)
15 - Colorado (5+10), Auburn (11+4)
18 - Michigan St (9+9)
20 - Texas A&M (11+9)
22 - Drake (12+10)
27 - S Dakota St (12+15)
This list mostly from memory? Wow. impressive. Anyone ever tell you that you spend too much time on college basketball? LOL.

NC St women not much of an upset once Brink fouled out (with some of the calls a little questionable but that is another story) However, men played way above their seeding. Marquette helped them a lot, however, as nothing seemed to be working for them. either on offense or defense. Going "cold" can happen to any team at any round in a tournament one and done. Did someone call this March Madness?

'Together' in the sense that those three schools are the only ones left with both men and women still alive.
Of course....'Guess Who' is UConn.

Will any of those 3 still have both teams standing after Monday?

The UConn men can be beaten. But they are playing really well right now. Firing on all cylinders. I expect a repeat.

I watched the game and I thought Brink played the whole game like she wouldn't be called for a foul. On the last one she knocked the girl over and landed on top of her so I think that was a pretty easy call. For the most part they let them play but the post players for Stanford were so overt in their fouls they had to call them.

Brink has had several games over her career where she has fouled out or played with 4 fouls.
