Clemson is undefeated as well.... should be interesting on Wednesday night. They are legit.

I'm looking at it from a different perspective of building a program that was left in shambles after Frank Martin was let go. Sure, we may not have a winning record at the end of the season but unlike the past we're winning the games we should win and they actually look like a well coached team for once. To me right now it's more about the team chemistry and execution of LPs system. I think LP is taking the right steps towards building a program that can compete in NCAA tournament on a consistent basis. That is where my hope is built. I'm not expecting to be in the top half of the SEC but I also don't expect to be a bottom dweller either.

I don't really think this is the place to discuss USC MBB.

But it's worth mentioning that Frank's only losing season in his last 8 years was the Covid year when he had multiple health problems in that chaos.

Lamont is half way through his second OOC and has lost to plenty of teams that you might think a HM should not lose to.

Not to slam Lamont, I like the QZ, but we did not lose every game under Martin. We were 18-13, 9-9 his final season. Which is a top quarter result for post ACC USC hoops.

Martin lost plenty in his first two seasons and inexplicably continued to lose to non conference cupcakes deep into his tenure. The basketball program was spinning its wheels in mud and going nowhere under Frank. His recruiting was very middling, either very late to the party with high level recruits or not even bothering at all whereas Lamont has reportedly been aggressive going after 4 and 5 star talent, that will likely be beneficial down the road in his rebuild. And of course we no longer have Martin’s embarrassing demeanor on the sidelines. The change in atmosphere in the CLA was vastly evident even from Paris’ first game as Gamecock HC.

And I’ll stop there with MBB stuff for now.

Hope Pao Pao has an awesome game and Tessa knocks down a couple from deep as well if she makes it into the game.

Dawn got the win, and sumthin’ to put a proverbial boot up this team’s derrières. She’s been pretty vocal about this team’s defense and poor practices.

Rebounding was bad. Some lazy footwork out there

Nothing too wrong with the defense, imo. Saved them.

All those easy wins built some bad habits.

Very happy to see Bree gain confidence in the game.

NC Reporter asks Dawn last night,’ What credit do you give to UNC- what are they doing- the last three times they played yall it’s been very close.”.

She replies- they are playing us in North Carolina. Come to South Carolina. Lol
 
We needed a back-alley knife fight (like Mizzou two years ago.) We got one!

We basically won this game with six players. No scoring by the bench except Ashlyn. Surprised at how few minutes we used Feagin & Fulwiley. Oh well, I'm not the coach.

Too many mistakes in a tight game. Can’t keep them on the floor like that. Can’t have more bad habits than good.

Some humor some truth.

last three games against border rival UNC have been wins for SC & all played in NC.
The teams played several years in the early/mid 2000s at a neutral SC site but UNC dropped the series around 2013 once Dawn had SC primed as a SEC title contender.

Dawn, like Geno, will schedule anyone & anywhere, b/c win or lose, it makes you better & builds long term & big game experience.

Other teams & coaches, not so much

That was a close call and showed a vulnerability in SC I hadn’t expected. It also showed what I think we all knew, the weakness of Deja Kelly’s game if the refs don’t give her the foul calls she’s always hunting. She was persistent and fierce, but finally her game is a bit limited. On the other side, Kitts showed out impressively. I didn’t think she was that strong in HS. And Ustby is really good this year.

I didn’t think the gap between Ustby and Kitts looked as pronounced as expected given the former is a senior and the latter is effectively a freshman. Very encouraging sign from Kitts.
