You are probably right but I love to root for the kid!!! This bad shooting team (according to Geno) could really use a great 3 pts shooter!!!I would be very surprised if Saylor can get significant minutes this year since she is way behind in practice and learning the schemes
Where are Autumn's minutes coming from now?

AM NM AE AG CW pretty much everyone not named ONO or Paige She is that versatile.Someone will have to play less, for her to play more. So, who will lose playing time?
Look up F. Guthrie. He can map it out for you.Lordy. Now I gotta figure out how to show this in the colorful roster spreadsheet ... LOL

Unless there were overtime games, then they could all actually play more.Someone will have to play less, for her to play more. So, who will lose playing time?

Color her as a Freshman both this year and next. Put an asterisk indicating early entry not counted due to COVID. Alternatively just color normally and assign a new color to any players taking a COVID 5th year.Lordy. Now I gotta figure out how to show this in the colorful roster spreadsheet ... LOL
If nothing else, she gets a jump on making that sophomore leap while she’s still a freshman. Any help (3 point baskets) she can give her team will be welcome. UConn is still looking for help in that area. Some “consistent“ help. I’m really not expecting too much at this time.I just find this fascinating!
Some Dixville Notch [i.e. waaay too early] speculation:
Practice with the team starting in late January.
Geno sees how she fits in...in terms of ability/attitude/effort.
Come early and mid-February: maybe play her in a few blow-out games and see what happens.
We have a ton of games in February so there may well be opportunities for PT.
Come the conference and NCAA tourneys maybe Saylor shows enough to really help us against any team. My sense is that she is a versatile player at 6'2" or so....a combo 2/3/4 player? I anticipated her having a realistic shot at being in the rotation next year. Maybe this is a late Christmas present for this year.
I find this development potentially wonderful...for the team and for Saylor.
Go Saylor!
Not bad for the worst shooting team Geno has ever had.WOW!!!!!!!!!
An unexpected surprise. Not going to speculate on minutes. Things have a way of working themselves out, usually for the best.
And as an aside, UConn leads the nation in field goal percentage at 53.5%. Second is Ohio State at 51.9%.
Lots of games in February against teams in the bottom half of the conference standings. Games that will be decided very early. The starters won’t need to play more than 25 minutes in those games If that many.Where are Autumn's minutes coming from now?

Geno was talking about long distance (3Pt) shooting where UCONN is ranked 77th in the nation. That's not a typo & 77th puts us behind South Carolina. If you were to take out Paige's numbers we be about 200th. UCONN was number 1 last year so hopefully you can see why this is a serious concern. Not bad for the worst shooting team Geno has ever had.
That’s certainly a possibility. On the other with all the starts and stops this season, UConn does not have the continuity and consistency necessary to make a run during the Big Dance, assuming WBB gets to a Big Dance. Right now Geno needs his starters and key reserves to get as many minutes playing together as possible.Lots of games in February against teams in the bottom half of the conference standings. UConn is now at the point where they could potentially bump up against the scholarship limit next year. Assuming that everyone returns next season and Geno decides to award Autumn a scholarship, with 4 newcomers on board, that puts UConn at the NCAA limit of 15 scholarships. Adding another player this season, who could return next season could create an excessive numbers problem, something we’ve never seen before at UConn.Very happy to have Saylor on board. Now I want UCONN to get greedy and go pick up Eleah Parker from PENN who is already the transfer portal.
Scholarship limit for next season is yet TBD and expected to be above 15. Above 15 to accommodate for the extra year of eligibility granted to players that played during this season.UConn is now at the point where they could potentially bump up against the scholarship limit next year. I suspect this has been in the works for weeks, subject to Saylor wrapping up her HS graduation requirements. They already have her listed on the Official UCONN Women's Basketball Roster, and was assigned uniform # 4
