I like Citron a lot........watched her play in high school and stated here years ago that Geno needed to recruit her.......still, I view her as more of a guard than a forward.......
The award may go to Citron, the only senior in this group, but the only
meaningful stat in which Sonia beats all the other Finalists is Free Throw %: 89.4 %.
Sarah is #2 right being Sonia in 3-point shooting 38.2 % for Citron to
Sarah's 37.0 % (Booker leads in the 3-pointer shooting % at 41.7 %). Sarah beats her in FG % (58.4 to 49.6), scoring (16.1 ppg to 14.2 ppg), A/To ratio (2.07 to 1.5), Steals (73 to 52) and Blocks (46 to 24). To my mind K. Pierre 6'2" of Vandy is the real competition at 20.8 ppg, 9.6 rb/g, and
87 Steals. In that particular match up Sarah beats K. Pierre in FG% (58.4 to
50.7%), Three point % (37% to 22.2%), Free Throw % (74.1 % to 66.7%),
A/TO (2.078 to 1.33) AND block shots: 46 for Sarah 8 for Pierre. Pierre however
played to two fewer games than SARAH: 29 to Sarah's 31. Pierre had
more points in fewer games: 602 points for Pierre, 500 for Sarah.... but
we all know that GENO took Sarah out of MANY/Most games when the
Huskies were well ahead. Interesting stuff... but the nod should go
to SARAH... GO SARAH! Freshman POY and Cheryl Miller Award winner!!
P.S. Sarah played 27.9 minutes per game. K. Pierre: 30.6 = 2.7 minutes more.
