Yes. All the fifth years and free transfers meant less playing time for freshman all around.Explain how Hawkins is all freshman. Weak group?
This one is confusing to me too, but we'll certainly take the recognition. Hopefully a nice confidence boost for him.Explain how Hawkins is all freshman. Weak group?
Because of the extra Covid year I don't think many freshmen got a lot of run. Villanova had a bunch of 4 star recruits who never played also.Explain how Hawkins is all freshman. Weak group?
Longino was playing a bunch earlier in the season. Not sure if his diminished playing time was because of injury or poor play but something changed.Because of the extra Covid year I don't think many freshmen got a lot of run. Villanova had a bunch of 4 star recruits who never played also.
He barely played all year, the only games he got double digit minutes in were cupcakes and blowoutsLongino was playing a bunch earlier in the season. Not sure if his diminished playing time was because of injury or poor play but something changed.
Gillespie scores more points per game than Cole and on considerably higher efficiency. Not sure where you are getting that Cole has better numbers? Cole averages 1 extra assist per game, but Gillespie has better rebounding numbers. His team has a better record too, which certainly helps.Cole has better numbers than Gillespie and is more important to his team, but Gillespie gets pumped by the media so he’ll win POY. He’s the most Duke-like player in the conference. I think it’s a coin flip between Cole and Gillespie for POY, but voters in the league apparently don’t. Not as criminal as when Kemba had the POY stolen from him, but still annoying
Even though I hope they don’t do the participation trophy like last season, this is the year you could see having a Co-POYGillespie scores more points per game than Cole and on considerably higher efficiency. Mighty strange thing to be bitching about imo.I ask again about Hawkins on the all freshman team. He plays less than 15 minutes a game and scores less than 6 points. His 3 point % is 32 and fg % is 35. Shoots 80% from the line. I love the kid and defensively he has come up but he turns it over too much and that’s with him really not dribbling that much ( for that reason). To put him on that team shows that the choices were pretty bleak for that spot I’m guessing. If he played near 30 minutes a game and increased his numbers there would be a better case but did we ever have a freshman make the all freshman team with numbers like this?
Not bitching, just asking about the worthiness of it. I’m a big fan of this kid.Mighty strange thing to be bitching about imo.
Hawkins? I mean I'm glad he is a Husky ... And will probably fill the shoes of the hype around him one day. But his freshman year was hardley even worth honorable mention... Really has been a big disappointment that we have to wait for his Sophomore leap...

I agree with all of this. I think Tyrese was more deserving of at least honorable mention. Hawkins was a surprise to me as well.Tough for Martin, few guys bring such a strong all around game. Inside, outside, rebounding, defense. Guy is a beast. Hope it fires him up. Sanogo and Cole deserve the spots. Surprised by Hawkins.
That's not bitching. I am equally surprised. Hawkins role was fairly limited this year. She shows tremendous promise, but I certainly never expected to see him named to the all freshman team.Mighty strange thing to be bitching about imo.
I was pleasantly surprised, too, but I figured it was because not a lot of freshmen have played significant minutes this season due to the extra Covid season, which @navery12 has since shown. That's not bitching. I am equally surprised. Hawkins role was fairly limited this year. She shows tremendous promise, but I certainly never expected to see him named to the all freshman team.
