Any idea why Samson didn't get time vs Marquette ?
Doesn’t seem like he’ll get run in important games/ranked teams. Being the 10th man on a really good team often means you’ll be the odd man out when the rotation shrinks.

If he’s healthy, he can contribute. Just play the role.

He may be more valuable in games with Creighton and St Johns.
We shall see

Anyone know what the rules are on redshirting? Is eligiblility determined by number of games played? Wondering if they are trying to keep that option on the table for him.

In basketball you lose the option of redshirting with 1 second of game time. You can apply for a medical exemption but that's in the case of a season ending injury, which wouldn't apply here

Was he even on the bench. I didn’t pay much attention but don’t remember seeing him

If he was lighting up practice he would see time on the court. He is basically in part two of his rehab. The first was getting healthy enough to play. No, he has to be able to contribute in a meaningful way to get minutes.

Came in against Butler, nothing against Xavier though.

Tough ask to expect him to be able to work his way right back into the rotation after missing so much time. Hopefully they’re able to work him in more as the season progresses and he is further removed from his injury.
He has to be practicing with the team, it seems strange that he got no time.

Something is amiss here. He was slated a starter at season beginning right? He’s healthy and cleared to play certainly could go 10 minutes, so what gives? Please don’t tell me he’s not conditioned enough to to play 10 out of 40 minutes. Must be Hurley doesn’t think he can help that much?
He was supposed to split time with Alex Karaban. Karaban is very difficult to take out of the games . Very smart and talented player

There is a possibility next year starting frontcourt is Clingan, Johnson and Karaban.

Very intriguing possibilities.
And the backcourt would be Jackson and Castle (assuming Hawkins enters the draft)?

If healthy, he'd be providing like 10 good backup minutes to Karaban and giving him a little more rest than he gets now, but that's about it.

His role next year depends on how he develops this summer and how ready Singare is. If Singare is raw, as predicted, Johnson may play backup to both the 4-5, giving all three of them lots of minutes. Of course, Hurley may play it safe and grab an experienced 5 out of the portal to back up DC.

Coach Hurley may have been planning for him to get in in the second half. However, one Marquette started pressing, it would not have made sense to bring him in (ball-handling and passing are not his strengths)

He's not contributing anything significant until next year. Everyone needs to move on.

There is still plenty of time for him to make a contribution this year.

How the heck is samsons role dependent on singare?

I’ll hang up and listen.
