Rumor from CSNBBS Conference Realignment board

Touche for HFD. Now we can go back to our regularly scheduled programing. What ever the hell that is.

To put it bluntly, I don't believe a single thing he said is true, or actually happening, or will ever actually happen. It's a nice five minute fantasy, but nothing more.

He put a lot of effort into the fantasy though, didn't he? :)

Well, he says "There is also already talk that Providence and UConn will play every 3rd game at the Casinos as a neutral site among other things." It has already come out that UConn is negotiating with the Mohegan Sun to play some games there.

My other thought about this is does the person who brought us this story, Penfield, have any link to HFD?

Do we have a co conspirator? Just askin'.

May have shared a bottle of jäger with him at X Lot back in the day, who could say? But other than that Nope. Haha

Didn't put that together that ND's independent status if there is a split becomes a bit of a point of contention. Could be an opening for more than a few. Whether this poster is a crock of shit or not, that point is a fact that would have to be dealt with. I'd expect it to go beyond just BYU, but to UConn, Boise, Cincinnati, USF, and basically anyone with a sniff of a legitimate athletics department. I'm sure ECU will apply and cc their emailed "application" to every media outlet on the east coast.

.-.
Come on now, do people really think HFD could come up with that plan? It's really good. Good for UConn, good for SNY. PAC wanted in the NYC market, so that piece makes sense at some level. SEC? Probably worthwhile in bball but not so much in FB. Wasn't it Florida that hadn't played OOC out of Fl since 1990 against Cuse? Although Bama took a trip to PSU, so it's not impossible but the venue needs to be bigger. It makes sense for the old BE schools - who get a (mostly local) marquee game on their schedule annually. The alliance between BYU/Cincy/BSU makes sense as well as witnessed by recently announced FB scheduling. The money seems to be a stretch, but realistically SNY needs UConn to be a power, and a power school needs a big budget - especially for an independent.

Where the deal makes the most sense is that it Could do two key things - 1. worry the B1G and ACC about losing market share in NYC to UConn and its cohorts and 2. Cause P5 to push back on ND(or any school's) independence in D4 - and ND in a conference is good for UConn.

I don't care whether it's true. It's intriguing and if we could pull most of that off and get $10-15 m per year, cya AAC. We know that there is nothing compelling holding us in the AAC, aside from conference games against schools that for the most part we just don't fit in with.

Sent the link to every blogger on ESPn though they are not to credible. Wont send it to Courant writers since they are to busy doing nothing to help.

Someone needs to copy the post and send it to 2 credible journalists that will actually read it and see what they say.

If they ever stop laughing and respond we will get a pro's feeling on it.

I feel like we are all in the twilight zone and this is season 10, episode 5.

Again, there are too many places for leaks on this one. This guy just happens to be the one in the know? Not buying it.

Pretty sure it's HFD but it will give the writers a few laughs.

Regardless of whether or not an ounce of this story is true, our collective responses to it have shown that UConn DOES have value!!! Yeah, most of us are thinking, "How are we going to get kicked in the nuts this time," but the reality is that many of our programs are top-notch and we have a faithful following with a supportive state government and a good partner in SNY. All of that is combining to give this story at least a small bit of credibility. You couldn't bull$#it this story in front of a Temple audience and have it stick. There's a reason for that. We're champions.

We're coming back, ladies and gents. We're coming back...

Btw guys, HPV3 had this 3 days ago. So you know it's true.

.-.
There's two points that makes me doubt the veracity of this :

- Generally speaking the Pac-12 doesn't play OOC games in Oct/Nov outside of the ND games and I'm not aware of any plans to do so.
- What would be the selling point for UMD/Penn State/Rutgers to get them to agree to the arrangement if it's an even home/away deal? I can see how this would benefit UConn but wouldn't that eat into Rutger's dreams of dominating NYC?

Anyway, interesting scenario and I think the Big East + 4 way alliance between BYU, Cinci, Uconn, and Boise can work.

Back to reality. It was a nice break, thanks for that, HFD. Wherever you are. Two years ago I'd have bet the farm we were going to the ACC.

It is definitely HFD. However, other than the dead give away misspelling of Boise as "Bosie", it was very well written for HFD. Just goes to show that Dan really is smart and he really does have great ideas, as I've said for months. Unfortunately, he goes off the rails too often to be taken seriously. I wish the guy was working in Storrs right now.

4 things:

Pretty sure that is the same guy and I did run him off. In my defense, he went a little Internet stalker on me.

This would be awesome if true. Despite, not knowing the difference between a ratings point and total viewers, that guy mostly got it right 18 months ago about the ACC and ND.

Pretty sure another poster on this board thought that UConn would be better off in the Big East for hoops and Independent. That would be me.

If this starts to happen, I think the ACC will stop it and invite us. The last thing the ACC wants is dinky UConn viable as an independent. If UConn could get even $15 million, imagine what FSU could do on their own.

I hope it's the same guy, but the FromTheInside that posted here used perfect grammar and punctuation and that post is a mess.

.-.
I read the original post and stopped there because I'm afraid to come across too many Negative Nancy's debunking this. In fact, I might just go to bed right now convinced that UCONN is working the back channels and that our 2015 schedule will have LSU, Stanford, Penn State, and BYU on it.

Lol. If that post is a mess, what do you call HFD's normal posts?

I have no idea if it is HFD. I highly doubt - he couldn't string together a coherent thought that long.

"Bosie" over and over? Temple to the ACC? It's Dan, no doubt in my mind.

Maybe he is hoop, maybe he is

This is the part where I say the rumor has no basis in fact and then five people accuse me of being too negative.
Yeah, I have a sneaky feeling that HfD paid an editor his monthly allowance before making that post.

I'm pretty sure there aren't 5 people left that believe this fantasy is for real.

When you are this late to the party all we can give you is a "thanks for playing".

Why can't you let us have dreams?
