I understand what you are saying but I'm not talking about the normal feed. I'm talking about the direct messages that coaches and players send to each other. Once a National Letter of Intent is signed, prospective student-athletes are no longer subject to further recruiting contacts and calls. Since Purvis is signed with NC State he cannot have contact with other coaches about him transferring because he is still signed with NC State.

You can look at it like this: I will use Kendal Yancy-Harris' situation. He was signed with USC and since the coach was fired he asked for his release. At that time college coaches still couldn't contact him yet. They couldn't until USC officially released him.

There is nothing wrong with following a player on twitter as long as he's not sending messages

I realize that. I wasn't under the impression, however, that Ollie is communicating with him. I thought he had simply followed him. There's a big difference between the two.

Ohhhhh. In that case there is nothing wrong at all.

Seems like there is a ton of smoke here. Starting to get cautiously optimistic about this. Would be a huge get.

This isn't your typical transfer where he sucked and didn't play. He was very good for a frosh.

He's a big time player and still has 3 years of eligibility left

Voskuhl was another guy out of the top 100. Mike LeBlanc was around 50, and the perception was that Voskuhl was a throw-in as sort of a package deal. Turned out to be the other way around. I'm also not sure about guys like Tate George and Scott Burrell - that was before recruiting was the business it is now. George was on his way to Northeastern. Burrell was highly regarded as a football and baseball recruit, but I'm not sure if he was a top 100 guy in hoops. Henefeld was off the recruiting radar.

Usually what you find outside of the top 100 are the Austrie types who can fill roles without being studs. Other schools over the years have had success finding guys who were All-American level studs - Reggie Lewis, David Robinson, Joe Smith, Tim Duncan, a few guys that BC found (Troy Bell, Craig Smith, Jared Dudley). Okafor is pretty much our example - he ended up No 99 on the consensus list after a strong spring circuit, but he was way outside he top 100 before then.

Dwayne Wade I'm not sure about - feel like he came out of nowhere, but maybe he was highly regarded. That doesn't count guys like Damion Lillard or Rodney Stuckey, who just developed into studs at the mid-major level.

Dwayne Wade was around mid-top 100 in his class. But since he was illiterate and couldn't write during his first year at Marquette, he had to redshirt because he got like 0.1 GPA.

Ok, here's my take on the Purvis situation. I just read an online draft projection that has him as going mid-late 2nd round this year if he leaves and he's projected as mid-first rounder next year. Unless he absolutely hates his coach, he'll suck it up one more year and go in next year's draft. The more time passes, the more reason will take over from emotion, and the less likely he transfers. If he transfers, he sits next year then is a one and done for us (if he chooses UCONN). His coach has already met with him and probably promised him the world. I don't expect NC State to be good next year so the coach is desparate to keep him out of self-preservation. Again, it all comes down to him despising his coach or not. With all that said, he is a freak athlete and seems to be a well-spoken kid and I'd love him as a Husky even for only a year. Maybe if Ollie had been the coach last year, he would've been a Husky.

I agree with everything you said, but I also hope you aren't giving him advice. I'd love to have him in Storrs.

Here's me giving him advise: "Your coach is a genius who underachieved this year, will never win at State, and is feeding you a bunch of lies about playing time. We develop and send guards to the NBA for lengthy careers better than any other school. You can start right away for us. By the time you're done here you'll be a lottery pick and your jersey will be retired. Red really isn't your best color, you look much better in Blue and White. The girls here will love you. UCONN is the place for you."

I used to have NCSU season football tickets. Whatever you do don't mention girls. That's the opposite of a selling point.

I just saw KO unfollowed Purvis on Twitter.

Wonder if it's a coincidence, not a chance of happening amymore, or a compliance department conversation?

NC State freshman guard Rodney Purvis is transferring, per the Charlotte Observer.

He shoulda came to UCONN like we all thought he would last year... You gotta believe that those doggone sanctions kinda killed our chances with him last year...

.-.
NCST announced today that Leslie will enter the draft. Earlier they announced that Brown will also enter the draft. Nothing on Purvis.

This is real folks.

really surprising considering all the upperclassmen they have leaving, he must hate Gottfried

Can't image the media pulling an April Fools joke on a kid transferring. That'd be crossing the line IMO.
