RJ Cole looks much more settled and confident

He’s a physical freak. I think when he gets it all together, he has the potential to be the best all around player we’ve ever had. Watching him feels like watching Secratariat in The Belmont Stakes, just leaps and bounds more athletic than anyone else on the court, including Bouk.
Totally different players here, but his unbridled athletic ability is on the scale imo of Dominique. I just feel as though he could take a lane on a moment's notice and dunk on the world, but he's a bit hesitant to do so at this point. Love seeing him come out of his shell. Can't wait for more "Action Jackson".

He has the leaps down. Needs to go to Bounds camp this summer.

Did you ever write for Penthouse Forum?

Nah what’s that though brother?

I mean no disrespect with this but I can tell your fairly young just by how you call people "brother" in most of your posts. No knock, it's good to have young blood active here.

But, if you don't know what Penthouse Forum is, you need to call your Pops or a cool Uncle.

Picture a tiny magazine that was like the internet of for a lot of us. 70-80 pages, no pics. Just beautifully filthy words on pages that over years became one massively abused clump.

You think it's hard polishing ol' Woody using a mouse? Try it holding a journal and having to flip pages.

I pray for a different set of refs in the Big East chip v. Villanova. Someone that will recognize the Baby shaq back down of Gillispie's is an illegal act. Guaranteed if that were Martin doing the same, half of his attempts would be whistled a foul. Outside of Shaq, I can't recall anyone utilizing that tactic more than Gillispie. And believe me, I know all the Nova players do it and have done so historically, but not to the degree Gillispie does.
Today's refs were bad too with that, Garcia backed down someone (Jackson IIRC), threw his shoulder into him 3 times and then got a foul called

Is calling people brother a young guy thing? I always call everyone brother, thought it was an old school thing.

My grandpa called everyone brother and mac.

LMAOO that’s funny and yea I ain’t tryna rub nobody here the wrong way feel me but throughout my years of reading this board I got respect for the O.G’s like urself and some others..

Agree fully. He’s been killer in the mid range, especially off that double-screen curl 18-footer at the top of the key following his inbounds pass. Bouk was killer midrange today too when the 3s weren’t falling.

Reminds me of AJ Price never missing his quick 16-foot pull-up jumpers and wishing he’d just go off for 25 a game doing it repeatedly. It was more or less unguardable.

AJ Price's pull up J is a good comparison. Hopefully Cole can become as good as AJ. Is my memory correct, that AJs greatest ankle breaker was against Marquette as well?

It's not a young guy thing superjohn. I can just tell he's young by how frequently he uses it. Just like we both did at his age because we wanted to be like Pops or Pa. It's not a negative, just how I sensed he was probably younger.

Calling someone brother can be traced back to wrestler Superstar Billy Graham and he's been around for awhile.

Haven’t read through everything, but Cole has found the midrange game that I’ve been begging for. Now he has figured out to score at this level. It starts with the midrange jumper for normal humans. Only elite athletes and really tall freaks can make a living without it. God bless the pull up jumper.

LOL it’s all good O.G. I’m 32 so I am probably a lil too young but tell me

Some of us of a certain age and would see "SportsFan88" and think he graduated college or HS in 88.

Nope. He was born in '88.

I watched original WWF wrestling with my Dad every Saturday and Sunday on channel 9 or 11. Good call, @Waquoit Maybe that's where my old man picked it up and handed it down to me. Once again, I wasn't trying to tear 88 down, just got a sense he was young.

Yup, but AJ Price was a bit bigger and stronger. That All-America year he was brilliant and had the highest BB IQ I’d seen in undergrad. Cole seems to be settling in well, hoping he keeps watching tape of his own errors this season and learning to get those same type of skills.

Here was the move:

By the way, thanks for ripping off another band aid of my youth by implying Hulk Hogan's schtick wasn't new and he was stealing other wrestlers stuff.

The game hasn't slowed down, Cole has slowed down, he is playing much more under control, gets himself into many fewer bad situations, and now because he isn't forcing it he can get out of bad situations. He is so much calmer on the court.
Many fewer?? Knew what you meant, just had to point it out. 😎

Yep, it’s a total joke. A million fouls for ticky tack stuff, and somehow you can blatantly lower your shoulder and forearm into a defender repeatedly to knock him back a foot at a time, eventually resulting in a foul on the DEFENSE. There’s nothing Jackson can do there. The funny thing was he realized it the 2nd time he was in that situation, flopped and fell to the ground, and of course they called an offensive foul on Marquette.

So good job refs, you complain about flopping and then officiate in a way where the defense can only get a fair shake by flopping.

His defense on the star PGs in the Big East doesn't get talked about nearly enough, he's shut down everyone outside of Gillespie who is just a nightmare matchup for him
Yes, Cole's defense is much underrated. He has shut down a lot of much larger players by stripping them early and has doubled down low at times for even more strips. He has grown and been accepted in his leadership role. Cole is the glue down the stretch, making key shots and great passes to shut down rallies. Were seeing smiles on the guards faces a lot these days.

Bazz and Boat took us to the promised land, can Cole and Bouk? Who’s our Giffey?

We were seeing shades of Coach K at Duke and the Hollywood type flops that he installed for many years. It was good to see the Lakers star called out on this and a recent Div 1 game I watched the flopper was given a technical. Another annoying thing is when a player flops and fakes a head hit, quickly covers his eyes, play is stopped. The refs yesterday didn't fall for this gimmick and Sanogo scored.

The play where he was leading a semi-break and hesitated for a second like he was going to circle the wagons then blew past two guys was the perfect decision and play for him

Penthouse was a magazine whose writers and articles were so riveting and informative that many of us would rush to buy as soon as it came out.
Great writers indeed.

But the one pictorial spread that stands out to me is the one where smoking hot Vanessa Williams was featured with another woman. The pictures were taken a couple of years before she won the Miss America contest. I remember driving across the mid west at that time and stopping at a gas station to buy the magazine.

She’s the only good thing that came from Syrapuse University.
