Perhaps Blauds was assuming the readers would take it for granted that UH would be in. He says best case is for BYU and UH to both get in.

Sweet. Hopefully this was mentioned during the presentation.

UConn had a contingent of 9 people the other day. Now I see why these guys were 2 of them...

Blauds seems to confirm that presentation has happened

It is a two-tiered list: Cincinnati , UConn, BYU and UCF are in the first group and have already been vetted by the Big 12. Their presentations were filled with additional details beyond the basics.

The other 7 schools required more of an introduction and have almost no chance of making the final cut unless some major unknown additions made in their presentations. Most of those schools are being interviewed for political reasons.

- So um is Houston really in the second tier???

More likely they will add in two stages, #s 11 and 12 will be chosen soon from the first group, and then #13 and #14 may come later and they want to have more than 2 candidates for the 2 spots to increase bargaining leverage, so they are recruiting and evaluating other potential candidates.

If so that would comport with my idea that Houston and BYU are top candidates for delayed addition because they have the fewest conference options of potential candidates and are likely to still be on the table later.

Conversely, Austin is home to Whole Foods Markets:
No Whole Foods Markets in Provo
None in Fort Collins
None in Colorado Springs
1 in Orlando
1 in Cincinnati
2 in Tampa

9 in the Houston metro and
9 in Connecticut

Thus, I believe we have identified schools 11 and 12.

Awesome post. Love Wholefood. The one next to my home also has a supercharger where you can get your car charged while shopping for groceries.

Finally trying Sonic was a huge disappointment, their commercials make the food look much better than the real product.
And it's incredibly expensive for fast food.

1935-1947: A cousin of Jonathan I, the second Jonathan was an Eskimo Husky, and started the tradition of an all-white dog as mascot. He debuted November 8, 1935 at rally prior to the annual football rivalry against Rhode Island. In September of 1936, Jonathan II chased Brown's bear mascot up a tree, and it took Providence police and fire fighters to retrieve the animal.

Great stuff.

Any reason why the AD went away from the all white husky that was used forever?

Not fierce looking enough. Wanted the uniforms to look edgy. Unfortunate byproduct is the new logo scares toddlers. In reality, the Husky breed is one of the friendliest around as most dog lovers know.

Wait until the rednecks find out you have a Cabela's in your freaking parking lot. It will be welcome to The Big 12 Huskies.
We could always throw in a watermelon seed spitting contest in Blue Lot if it will help the cause.

I can assure you that my knowledge of indian casinos and sonics in Connecticut is nil. But I'm glad to hear that there are some similarities between the states.

We got the first and second biggest Indian casinos in the USA...(maybe the third biggest, since the Hard Rock Seminole Casino in Tampa is expanding...

"And in conclusion Mr Bowlsby, we promise that the first act the athletic department will take upon acceptance into the B12 will be to hire a football coach that actually understands time and game management. We promise we won't embarrass the conference like we have been since 2011..."

Chili Dogs are good. Plus, when I was at KU, we had Miss Sonic at a Sonic in Lawrence...and she looked real good period, and did the roller skates.

Is it expanding by 100000%? The last time I went there I got my car back from the valet before they parked it the place was so pathetic.

Remember that time someone actually suggested that Bob Diaco should present?

Good times.

He would come out flat and uninspiring before regaining Bowlsby's interest and confidence only to bungle the presentation in the last minute, leaving Husky Nation with the nutkick of a lifetime.

I think it was more Suzie that the Manual. I also suspect that there was whispering that the white logo looked more Samoyed that husky, which truth be told it did. Take the same logo and make it white, as @Penfield and a few others did I'd be completely with it. I am not a big fan of the new costume "Mascara Jonathan" at all, but it is what it is.

I figure in a few more years they'll change it back for change's sake. I look forward to the "the White Dog is back" campaign.

The 'old' Johnathan was designed by a local artist in Mansfield who based the image on his own pet, an Alaskan Malamute.

Perhaps, but that's not particularly relevant because that's not the origin of the use of the white husky as a UConn mascot:

So from the second Jonathan until the most recent version, we've had white huskies as our mascot. Take a look at this partial list with pictures.

What's done is done and I can live with it but the notion that there isn't any such thing as a white husky is a recent myth. There is and they've been our mascot for 80 + years.

Please refresh my memory...... has it been announced what day, or week, or month, or year the Big 12 is expected to announce which 2 or 4 teams it will select in this tortured process.

Thanks.

Reported that they are hoping to have recommendation on direction for the October 17th President/Board meeting - but it is the Big 12 and decision making hasn't been a strong suit.

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing it will be announced between mid-late october. TCU was invited on Oct 10th and WVU was invited on Oct 28th. Just going by our last expansion I'd imagine that is good time to expect it to happen. The situations are similar as the Big 12 is going to have a conference championship game next season and if they want to have two 6 team divisions without round robin they'll probably have to pull the trigger by the end of the month to give the incoming schools enough time to get out of their current conferences and get the scheduling worked out.
