By "many" what you actually mean are the 2,000 UConn football fans.Unfortunately, many of us feel the same way as Dooley.
Thread is being brigaded by salty football fans. I bet this move polls 80%+ positive with Uconn sports fans at-large.

Emphasis on UConn will not drop football and will not drop to FCS.
PeaceI'm done with UConn athletics.
Small time thinkingI'm done with UConn athletics.
Football drives the bus for schools.
How do you lose $8 million in football annually and $22 million in Olympic sports.
At least if we lost $22 million in football, I would know we were trying.
I think that might be a big part of this. We can't compete now, what happens when they start paying players?I think the clock on the entire NCAA is ticking. At some point, the pressure of having to pay players will come into fruition. Not saying this makes the NBE good or bad. It just is what it is. Might as well enjoy it now while we can.
Not only wont they accept Uconn football only they will be happy we are leaving. They are trying to be a southeast/middle American football conference, like an SEC light. We were terrible and out of place.Financially, the best case scenario would be to keep football in the AAC, but there have been multiple reports over the years that the AAC would not accept UConn as a football only member. Maybe Aresco will change his mind after coming to the realization that he put UConn athletics in a real bad spot with this new TV deal and that most likely was the final push UConn needed to get out of this league and make a move to save basketball.

Gotta be pumped for those creighton, marquette, and depaul trips huhStrictly from the standpoint of me seeing games I am thrilled. As a person living in NJ, being able to see away games at Seton Hall, at MSG (St.Johns), at Villanova, at Georgetown and Big East Tournament at MSG again is huge.
Well it was nice knowing you and thanks for your interest in UCONN.

I love speaking to you strictly through bitmojis.I’m struggling to understand how you can go back to a place you’ve never been. The New Big East is not the Big East. We were never in the New Big East.
As I told @August_West offline, this is like going to Dead & Company and saying you are so happy to be seeing the Dead.
Im no expert either but that seems to make that most sense. You take UConn out of the picture completely, the AAC TV deal looks a lot different.I'm not an expert on this stuff but doesn't us leaving hurt the TV deal they were so proud about? Not saying they will or should keep up football only, but I don't think us leaving is good for the American
Almost as exciting as Tulane, Tulsa and East Carolina.Gotta be pumped for those creighton, marquette, and depaul trips huh

With the exception of a small handful of actual visionaries, this university will always be small time due to small time administrations and small time thinking.Shame we could never figure out the whole athletic department thing. Had some real potential to being a major P5 player. Instead, too many bad decisions were made and here we are. Too bad.
Almost as exciting as Tulane, Tulsa and East Carolina.
All the best to you and yours.
I believe there was a clause that nullified the contract if UConn or Cincinnati exited the conference.I'm not an expert on this stuff but doesn't us leaving hurt the TV deal they were so proud about? 2 things regarding this, wait until you see Depaul's new arena and also I think you will find it refreshing regarding the other 2 to be playing road games in front of 18k+ screaming fans. The kids on your team will certainly like it better than what they have seen.Gotta be pumped for those creighton, marquette, and depaul trips huh
