i dont know where to start, i'm still mad about the sdsu games. i'm still not ahppy that sdsu is more of a series then just a extra game while out there for the az on a boat game. why don't we just invite these schools for everything, we would kick there but in field hockey also. we shouldn't be helping build other programs, we should be trying to get away from these schools. can't wait to see the recruit reports from the staff about those 7 footers out in idaho.

I'm in san Diego 3-4 times a year. Half my family lives in Northern San Diego county. My little brother plays football for Cathedral Catholic(5 time defending cif champs) and has scholarship offers to play for Air Force, Navy, New Mexico next year... JJ Stavola. He may end up at State as a preferred walk on though.

wow how cool is that? 2 of my brothers moved out here from CT and at least i'll get to see football every other year. but i'd rather see hoops. Fisher's done a nice job at SDSU...

I'm with you, Eric. I missed the women playing at SDSU when I was in Afghanistan but it would be great to see the men here.
I will still be on active duty next year, so I may be able to swing the Carrier Classic...tix are tough though

Unless someone else has read something differently, it doesn't say anything about UConn playing home and homes with Boise.

Again - just says we've agreed to play 'em, not where.

I wouldn't mind a road game vs San Diego State. (Road games are not fatal...looking at you, Syracuse.)

Yea likewise, i'm excited to see SDSU football here. SDSU is my college football team of choice... I don't get why they didnt come for all sports... And agreed Fisher has done an amazing job. SDSU is never an easy game now.

Sweet. I'm six hours by car from Boise. That's a trip to the store where I live.

"Johnson said Big East Commissioner John Marinatto asked Memphis to play both Boise State and San Diego State. Johnson told the newspaper that Connecticut has also agreed to play Boise State and San Diego State, who are joining the Big East in 2013 as football-only members."

Wait a minute. When did Memphis join the BE??? D@mn. I've been avoiding sports cites because I don't want to read about UConn losing.

This season we've played Maine, Coppin State, Columbia, and UNC-Asheville. I think we might be able to substitute Boise St. for one of those marquee match ups. Why not?

Look at the SOS and RPI rankings for the programs mentioned. Maine (S-336, R-276), Coppin St. (S-243, R-201), Columbia (S-172, R-147) and UNC-A (S-218, R-115) hardly set the world afire. Boise States are not great (S-122, R-204), but they sure aren't out of line with the others. And we're talking about substituting them in to our schedule, not adding another game. As for SDST, they are S-84 and R-19. They're both part of our conference now...so why not help them out? BTW, UConn is S-3 and R-24, so if we replace Maine and Coppin St. with Boise St. and SDST, we would actually, though not significantly, increase our SOS and RPI!

were going to play a basketball game @ boise. not at home vs some easy team. thats a loss of a home game in order to help a team that didn't even join our league for the sport. not to mention if we played any of the schools you wrote down @ there place it would still be better.
maine-prep schools recruits
cop-md/dc recruits
and so on...@ boise is bad travel and a dead end stop for basketball. its not like football.

Please tell me where it says we agreed to play IN Bosie?

Nothing like a 15 post thread over a incorrect fact because the OP has reading comprehension issues.

The University of Memphis and the University of Connecticut will play Boise State and San Diego State for four years on a home-and-home basis, said Memphis AD R.C. Johnson to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

then it later goes on to say that johnny marinate asked memhpis to play both sdsu and boise in a home and home series. then it says "He also told the paper that UConn agreed to same setup."

Well, first thing is, I haven't seen it anywhere that this would be a visit to Boise. I've only seen it mentioned that we would play them. I understand your point about the recruiting aspect. Boise is not likely to help there, SDST could, as there are prospects in Southern Cal. but if it's a home game, then it's not a big deal.

A bigger issue not mentioned before though, was whether or not this became part of the deal to get these teams to join the conference. We don't know that...not yet anyways. But, even if not, and even if the game is at Boise, it is just ONE game. I don't think that will hurt our recruiting!

EDIT: I didn't see your later posts, so I'm updating here.

I still didn't see anything regarding UConn agreeing to a home and home, (not for men's hoops anyways). It does state that Memphis has agreed to that. The arrangement MAY have been made for UConn, but it's not clear from the article that even if so, whether it's for men's or women's BB.

Also, as mentioned earlier, it does appear that this was part of the membership negotiations.

In its membership agreement with Boise State, the Big East agreed to “facilitate discussions” to get the Broncos two home games and two away games against league schools in basketball. The contract does not stipulate men's or women's basketball.

I can make up quotes to, but I won't here is the article. Take your time and read it, maybe you need to re read it after you read it once so you can understand that we have not agreed to a home and home.

Boise State's men's basketball team will start a four-year, home-and-home series with new Big East member Memphis in 2013-14, Memphis AD R.C. Johnson told the Memphis Commercial Appeal on Thursday.
Memphis announced it was joining the Big East on Wednesday.

Boise State officials were unaware of any scheduling arrangements Thursday morning.
Second-year coach Leon Rice said it was news to him when asked by reporters.
"We're looking for great opponents, especially in home and home situations. And we want to keep bettering the schedule and keep bettering the schedule, so if you can get a great basketball program like Memphis for a home and home, that's terrific," Rice said.
He said his program would welcome the chance to play Connecticut and other Big East schools.
"That would be just an amazing opportunity for our program to have those kind of home and homes. We'd love it," Rice said.
Johnson said Big East Commissioner John Marinatto asked Memphis to play both Boise State and San Diego State. Johnson told the newspaper that Connecticut has also agreed to play Boise State and San Diego State, who are joining the Big East in 2013 as football-only members.
Boise State is moving its other sports to the WAC from their current home in the Mountain West.
In Boise State's "Big East Conference Membership Expansion Agreement," the league agreed to "facilitate discussions between the University and current Conference members regarding the scheduling of two home basketball games each season with current Conference member basketball teams and two away basketball games each season with current Conference member basketball teams."

Now do you clearly see what YOU ARE MISSING?
i didn't make up any quotes. you simply continue to look at one article that doesn't have all the info, meanwhile everyone else in this thread has read others that tell us were going to play AT boise.
YOU ARE THE 1 MISSING OUT and it looks like specialisthusky is also.

With Boise State’s move to the Big East in football only, all other sports land in the WAC.

Both of of those articles, especially the second one, play an internet version of 'telephone'. They borrowed a sentence from a Commercial Appeal article and inferred that UConn has agreed to play a home and home with whoever - it is not actually said, however. Johnson did not say that UConn had agreed to the same set up - in an unquoted reference, Johnson is described as having said that UConn agreed to play both schools. Not when, not where.

And then they bolster their story with a quote from the Boise coach who had no idea that his school had agreed to play anyone - he responded to news provided to him by the reporter.
