Providence Post Game Thread

Amazing how a Providence Post Game OP can stimulate such a broad spectrum of diverse subject matter. No way tomorrow's post game OP can match this one.

The longer the threads are active, the more first world problems are discussed ad nauseum. KenPom rankings is the real humdinger

So Vegas doesn't factor in one team beating the cr@p out of the other team already and doesn't factor in injury, minutes restrictions, what players are available etc.?
Well I wouldn't say we beat the crap out of them. I'd say we got lucky against them and BYU. But no, for the opening line Vegas pretty much just mirrors Kenpom.

What is this place going to be like when we actually lose a couple of games?
I don't remember what January 2023 was like on here but it must have been very unpleasant. Maybe I just blocked it all out or the NCAA Tournament run made me forget.

.-.
I guess we were lucky to play them on the East Coast, or something?
I mean at one point in the first half BYU was 0-10 from 3, with 1 or 2 assists and 10 turnovers. I'm sure if it that was us this board would think we're good and the other team was just so amazing that they caused all that. This board definitely wouldn't think our team was a total disaster.

Elite defenses tend to cause that.

People said Hurley was on the hot seat. But what's way crazier is that winning b2b titles somehow created MORE lunatics here rather than calming everyone down. Now, 20-1 and winning out-of-conference games against top 10 teams aren't nearly good enough. No, no, no---success requires end-to-end blowouts in every game.

Also, Hurley caught lightning in a bottle, or didn't you hear. Still has to prove himself

Yes but if you actually watch the game and have brain function beyond your slow adult level you’d realize that’s not what happened.

Yeah you're right if you have brain function beyond a slow adult level you'd realize we got lucky when we beat Illinois by 13. These are the people who say we're getting run out of the gym when the score is 6-2 at 18:50 of the first half.

You're right, everyone knows we got lucky in both of those games.

The win over Illinois where UConn led from start to finish, led by 19 points, won by 13 with Reed and Mullins combining for 4 points was probably the luckiest win in college basketball history.

I can’t remember BYU. But Illinois had one of the worst shooting performances of the season probably. It was actually unreal how many open looks they missed.

If I remember correctly, there was a photo of the whole team indulging in a big Thanksgiving dinner. Probably a tryptophan effect on shooting. Hurley had our team have their dinner early so it washed out of their system.

Elite level coaching vs. pedestrian coaching matters.

Remember this is the same team whose brilliant strategy was to keep shooting over Cling Kong all day. That went well.
