this is exactly true for pc vs. uri and they still play every year home and home.

with this sort of thinking... uconn may not be getting the games you all expect in a home and home with the crap conference situation.

So, CBS is going to show us playing whom on network TV? You think any teams will sign up to play UConn on CBS? I do. Maryland just offered a game this week.

Since the whole crap conference situation began, our football program scheduled home and homes with BYU and Boise, and our bball program scheduled Maryland at Barclays and got invited to Coaches vs Cancer at MSG.

Our scheduling will be just fine. And if we did pass on a series with PC, it's because we're holding out for Villanova or Georgetown. Beating those teams actually means something come Selection Sunday.

Just heard that UConn has indeed chickened out. Big surprise there. UMass all over again. Your rival school is apparently Cincinnati, wow. And fans wonder why UConn has no team that can actually be considered without argument its rival.
If you had any stones and blackballed BC like Calhoun did back when they ducked the BE over twice behind our backs I'd have more respect for you and your school.

So if the "rivalry" ahem is indeed over and you're feeling grief over it than that makes me happy..

If everyone was honest for a second it was clear Syracuse was our biggest rival.
Many of their fans felt the same way.
Thats why when Cuse announced they were leaving it was over. At least for most UConn people.
Do you honestly think that if the basketball schools split first it would of caused more than a ripple
JTIII called it the Etu Brute moment for the BE. I agree.Based on the fingerpointing that when on.
there was a frantic denial manifested in blame.
We should rightfully not schedule any former BE teams for at least a couple of yearts.
I won't reharsh my litany of scorn for our former conference mates. Suffice it to say there is plenty of it.
I've been around a long time and look back fondly on memories with our old Yankee Conference Rivals
But they are just that memories. Impossible to recreate.
We should all look back on BE days fondly, but not now.
Time heals all wounds.

stones? If your school and fans could ever get the massive chip off your shoulder, and your unbelievable insecurities you might realize that the PC fans wanted to continue with BC, many of the alumni work together and they are a NE England rival. Just reading this thread and the absolute arrogance the fan base acts in regard to fellow NE schools is really something to see. You all sit here and wonder why you were left without a chair when the music stopped while the rest of us all know why. You reap what you sew

Well, I can see why PC needed to drop the home and home with Brown, but we can't help you out. And I would wait for any official statements from the schools themselves before pointing fingers about how we are afraid to play the Little Engine that Couldn't.

Yeah, I am sure the people deciding read this message board to make up their minds.

Hilarious! DELUSIONAL! Let's face it, if we dropped football tomorrow, we could join your conference in an instant, and we'd dominate it. You know it, we know it.

a scenario you'd relish i'm sure.

but... you can't, because you sold your souls with the $100M investment.

so you can't play PC, but you can hold the annual state of CT tournament? weak sauce.

Speak English for heaven's sake! That's two posts in a row that make little sense. Annual State of CT? What?
Your friend Friar understood exactly what I wrote about UConn's scheduling. Read the thread and educate yourself.
As for UConn football, that will be the ticket for the eventual split, when the football schools break away from the NCAA and leave the rest of the schools behind. You can bet they have little interest in sharing all those hundreds of millions with 1,000s of schools like the NCAA does now.

This is my exact point. You have to insure enough home OOC games against top national opponents each year. In order to do that, you have to schedule a lot of home and homes. It goes without saying that I'm assuming CBS Network would have little interest in UConn-Providence. When you add the numbers up, this leaves UConn with 4 or 5 open games (depending on holiday tourneys). So, every time you schedule a team that won't be shown on CBS (like Providence) you reduce the number of cupcakes. In this scenario, you're down to 3 cupcake games. I'm sure the fans will like that. I wonder if the AD's office will as it loses revenue.

many of your new conference games will now be cupcakes. this whole thread is about how providence is an irrelevant cupcake. very few people even hint interest at neutral court games vs. providence. and we are contradictory?

uconn is too late to that party. the program needed a boost more than 5 years before it got it.

What is it about the post you quoted that you don't understand? With cupcake games, UConn gets the home gate. How difficult is that for you to understand. Games against regional teams (because PC is not a national team) would cut into the 4 or 5 opportunities UConn has to play cupcakes. Why don't you guys try to improve the level of your play first and then try again in several years, then maybe CBS Network would be willing to show a UConn Providence game. If you think CBS wants to show that now, you're deluded.

So, you think the ACC will stay together, is that right?

and if they don't stay together... uconn goes where? still left out in the cold, buddy.

If teams leave the ACC, UConn joins the ACC. Why is that difficult to understand?

uconn vs. stony brook or quinnipiac at home would draw more at the gate than providence could guarantee every other year? i don't see the logic there. and if it is financial then play the game in hartford every other year. it is a near sellout every time i've been.

why is it difficult to understand that if teams leave the acc it is to create the 4 superconferences. uconn joining the acc without miami, fl state, etc.... is OUT IN THE COLD.

Sigh. UConn doesn't go on the road to play Stony Brook. UConn only makes $$ when it hosts a game.

There are 15 teams in the ACC. There are 6 spots open in the other 3 superconferences. That leaves 9 ACC teams left. We don't know who those teams are going to be, but someone of Georgia Tech, Duke, NC State, Virginia Tech, maybe Miami, Wake Forest, and the former BE teams, will still be in the ACC. Of the 6 spots, 4 slots are reserved for UNC, UVa, Clemson and FSU. Two more teams will leave. No one knows which. The football conferences are not going to lock out Notre Dame, the former Big East schools, and 4 of Georgia Tech, Duke, NC State, Virginia Tech, Miami and Wake Forest. Ain't going to happen.

sigh. no . you claim not doing a home and home is a financial play. i laid out that a home and home with providence more than likely makes MORE financial sense than a home game that draws 8k. it's not like uconn would go to providence with nothing to show for it financially.

my point is that the fiscal sense argument is weak sauce.

sure... uconn is on the inside then. keep thinking that.

maybe then you can join a basketball conference and start all over again.

Wow, your math is bad. Did you learn math at Providence, or were your deficiencies ingrained before?

UConn has a season ticket base. The games are sold on that basis. For Hartford, 12,000 is the floor.
