It's amazing that all you need to do is take one big rambling dump....and all the flies show up. Absolutely amazing how many former University presidents and athletic directors surf this forum.

Especially the one who has spoken to 90% of the coaches out there. I wonder if they really believe the shart they write. Or they think being a contrarian is really cool. (it's not)

Anyone see him go full-on crazy after Nolan's dunk?

That is a whole lotta enthusiastic athletic director right there.

BY, don't kid yourself. Warde is a big upgrade over JH but he was about our 4th choice for AD just a couple years ago...and he was a also recent finalist for the VT AD job. Clearly he would absolutely leave for a power conference AD job in a heartbeat. SH is in the same boat, non-athletically speaking.

If this duo was truly "bleeding blue", they would have already hired a real business expertise to leverage our fantastic assets into the B1G or ACC. They are simple minded collegiate administrators that don't have a clue about business/media...and big business/media is what this conf realignment bs is built on.

Despite all this, we have a what appears to be a great new hire in FB, Men's & Women's Hoops is in FF...so not all is lost despite both of them being OK about what they do. Unfortunately, being OK doesn't lead us to the promised land.

Um...excuse me Mrs Pasqualoni....they did hire someone specifically for the purpose of marketing our brand to other conferences. But please continue with your ignorance.

Actually, no, UConn never hired a pro specifically for upgrading our conference affiliation, which is not a marketing job...it is a top notch sales job. If you believe otherwise, please provide a name. Secondly, I've never been a fan of PP, certainly wouldn't be the mother of his children for many reasons aside from the obvious booger photo's...and I have a penis/like chicks. You all need to get your head out of the sand, we have incredible coaches/athletes/facilities but small time institutional leadership. Ask Warde if he interviewed for the VT job and see if he looks you in the eye when responding. SH is despised by Athletic dept./UC Foundation insiders. She is an egotistical train wreck in the making who will also bolt at the next best opportunity.

Obviously you are a disgruntled former employee. They were in the process of hiring such a person. I won't waste my time for you trying to find out if they did. Feel free to move on. You are wasting bandwidth.

Link?

I loved his reaction to Nolan's dunk and really like the football hire- but I think he jumps ship as soon as he is offered something better- just a hunch and a few things I've heard.

We must be completely DOOMED!!!!!!!

Sdhusky thinks warde handled the Ollie and Pasqualoni situations well. Got it.

Results matter. Even if you would have done it differently.

I'm happy with Ollie.

I'm happy with Diaco.

Sure I would have done it differently (I think) but I'm not going to dwell on it. Ollie can win 3 titles here and we can end up in a power conference and you will still be pissed off about an interim contract and Freescooter will be pissed off about Warde going to the beach.

His legacy is incomplete. But he is on the right track.

Maybe. But maybe she is also holding people accountable. I'm sure the foundation folks would have been happy having a subpar endowment for the next 30 years also if left to their own devices.

Weak attempt to imply I bashed ollie. Really weak attempt.

The inerim contract was not just stupid, but was insulting to Calhoun and made Manuel look weak at the same time. I have covered before why I thought the interim contract was so stupid. Manuel got lucky.

We can all like the Diaco hire all we want. He hasn't won a game yet so to put him in the same class with Ollie is premature to say the least.

The interim contract was not an insult to JC or KO, He absolutely did it the right way. I don't think it made him look weak at all. he had to assert himslf there after the way JC shoehorned KO in. You could say JC was in the wrong the way things went down but I sure am glad he pulled it off.

That you think I think you are bashing Ollie means there is no point even having a rational discussion with you. My point is that it worked out so maybe it wasn't as stupid as you think it was. Putting up straw man arguments about what could have happened but didn't is a waste of time. Maybe he did get lucky. Maybe he had better info. Maybe SH wouldn't let him commit long-term $ to someone with no experience. I don't know and you don't either.

As to Diaco, I'm happy with him. Today. And I'm happy with Ollie. Today. They are only in the same class with regards to my own personal happiness, which is meaningless in the scope of the world. Read what I wrote and stop extrapolating.

Bingo!

The university spent a decade figuratively (and at times literally) void of leadership and with few exceptions had less than adequate strength in its leadership for most of its existence to date. When a new boss comes in and expects quality effort and quality results from day one it will ruffle quite a few feathers from those who had become overly comfortable with barely showing up and having that viewed as adequate.

There's no reasoning with batsht crazy... By that I mean you are batsht crazy.

Nothing is more predictable on this board than the usual suspects resorting to name calling when someone presents an intelligent viewpoint outside of conventional wisdom.

Says the guy who said I was either "stupid" or a "di**head" for challenging his comments on Burrell's hops.

You're funny. Absolutely stunning lack of self awareness.

Regarding how WM handled PP....I don't blame him for waiting until this year. PP had 2 years of 5-7...bad...but not train wreck. He didn't officially train wreck until the beginning of 2013. They didn't lose to an FCS team or get humiliated in Buffalo until this past season.

Do I think he should have canned him after year 2? Yes...but I can understand why he waited. Also...I think he was very bold in removing PP mid season. Conventional wisdom says to wait until closer to the end of the year. WM realized just how bad the situation was and acted on it.

I am sure in hindsight WM wishes he canned PP at the end of year 2..but I don't think that move was so obvious at the end of 2012.

For what it's worth Nelson I think you are crazy too. But I still read your posts and would be happy to grab a beer with you before a game and chat about sports and life. You are an interesting crazy. :)

I actually appreciate your point of view generally. I just don't like you putting words in my mouth. I've been around message boards long enough to use actual words to say what I mean and not infer things.

Nope, wrong again. I'm just a fan with high level access into the inner politics in Storrs and tired sick of people giving credit to average university administrators who sat on their hands during this CR disaster...and now that we have leverage again they continue to sit on their hands. If you don't like or can't handle the truth that's your choice.

Maybe the RockStar will announce we're leaving the AAC 25000 feet above while jetsetting between Big D and Nashville with the high rollers.
He does love a party. They do have phones on them, correct?

I'd like to understand our leverage now considering that expansion seems quiet.

I think we all agree that we sat on our hands last time. Whether it could have been salvaged is a matter of debate but the known facts don't seem to indicate so.

We've seen a lot more former players on camera during this and the AAC tournament. I wonder if that's part of a concerted effort by the athletic department. And who was that big guy giving Ollie the hug before JC's hug? I thought it looked like Eric Heyward.
You have a better chance of seeing Tate George at a UConn celebration than Eric Hayward.

When you speak of the truth, we'd just like to hear more facts on it (if you can share). Especially when all outward appearances are that they have high aspirations for UConn.

I agree there was complacency but I attribute that more to the prior administration than the current. If that's not the case we would all be curious.

Calhoun "shoe-horning" KO in was brilliant. You really have to be a true Calhoun hater or Warde lover to have preferred Warde and not JC select his successor. No one more qualified than JC to select his successor. Fact.

Mike, we 'd all like to hear more facts from someone like Dog, especially to the extent he's an actual insider. But if he's actually an insider, highly unlikely he'll share too much, as his status will likely change rapidly to actual outsider.

I find it strange though that anyone would dismiss his perspective out of hand. I have no idea of the truth, though obviously the story he tells is plausible.
