Preliminary Gold Cup Roster

More Zardes.... sub on Trapp while you’re at it.

Just a heads up, Curacao has scored in the 90th in each of their last 2 games for a win and a draw. US needs a 2nd goal.

This team is either asking 1) for Pulisic to carry the team to victory all by his lonesome and/or 2) for Curacao to beat them so that they can all go home. Option #1 will not work in the semifinals and Option #2 will be happily met by Jamaica in the semifinals and emphatically addressed by Mexico in the finals.

Never liked the Berhalter hire, and like it even less now. The product has been pretty consistently terrible. His reliance on sub-par MLSers is ridiculous. 1-0 against a country of 160,000 people, while honestly getting outplayed for a good portion is incomprehensible.

Steffen for all of his faults, made a world-class save there at the 85th minute. Zardes can only seem to put a ball on-frame if it hits him in the face. His shots have been painful to watch.

Jozy is 5x better than him, but Berhalter coached Gyasi so he thinks he’s the next coming.

Gonzalez? really?

After this Gold Cup Bradley, Zardes, Trapp, lovitz, Gonzalez, and a few others all need to be retired front international duty... and take Ernie Stewart and Berhalter with them.

Bring up Weah, Sargent, Soto, and a bunch others from the U20 and U23. The overhaul of youth (which we should’ve seen this tournament) needs to happen now.

Not going to happen. Most of the U-20 and U-23 guys play in Europe, which does nothing to contribute to the MLS confers and geneating money for those bank accounts seems to be the USSF's priority right now.

Donovan just nailed it, tactically the US did nothing to address the 3 high press Curacao brought. Berhalter made no adjustments at all, just more of the same and his team got worked tonight. It’s scary to think what a good team (which they’ve yet to play in this tournament) will do to them.

Curacao starters are semi pro club players. This whole contest is a joke

Well that was about as pathetic game as the T&T WC qualifying game. Not sure why some of you guys are all worried about Mexico though, you actually think we'll be playing against them???? Not likely.

Curaçao and Haiti are getting smart and recruiting dual nationals to play for their ‘other country’. Haiti via France and Curaçao via The Netherlands. It is paying off as both are much improved over the last 4+ years.

We did that too!!! (until some decided that the German's were not real Americans and they are all gone now)

In fairness, many of their players are playing in 1st or 2nd division smaller European leagues (not the top 4 leagues, but Dutch, Romanian, etc...) which are on par or better than the MLS, so the talent gap wasn’t all that much given the MLS heavy line up we put out there.

The best thing for US Soccer might have been a loss last night or a loss v Jamaica. Hopefully that would wake up the idiots in charge - I highly doubt it would, but a boy can dream, can’t he?

Missing the World Cup hasn’t

It blows my mind really, how good a country like the United States could be at this sport if we stopped it up. We have vastly more athletic talent than any other nation we would compete against. We fail to develop it properly, and then to recognize it when we do.

I recognize that football, baseball, basketball, hockey etc. are the focus of many U.S. athletes, but there are plenty to go around in a country this size. If we are going to prioritize MLS, then fix MLS and make it stronger.

Welp, scare tactics. Keep telling parents that football is dangerous and more kids will be pushed into soccer.

Until more kids are playing playground soccer and more unstructured soccer not much is going to change.

Pulisic only went to two practices a week, played like a game a week in season. He spent the rest of his time playing with his ball.

Zidane developed his skill playing pick up games.

Kids in America go to practice and then play Call of Duty or play basketball in the driveway.
