Potential Transfers Into Program in 2018

Not sure his source...nor do I have any leads at this hr.

Anybody know about Jaleel Fields, DE transferring from WVU. He hasn't done a whole lot there but was scheduled to be a starter for WVU last year. I read somewhere that he was going to go to Indiana PA. Unless there are other issues, I would think UCONN could lure him over Indiana PA.

Also saw on Grad tracker two other D Linemen:

Brandon Tiassum and Pete Mokwvah - Notre Dame

Its notable that Crocker and D. Harris are following Amhir Mitchell along with Tyler Coyle and Malik Banks.

Twitter
Mitchell already used a year of eligibility at Michigan (early enrollee in 2016) and now one at Rutgers. Its reported he had a strong spring at Rutgers in 2017 before tearing an ACL. He's never seen the field.

6'3'' 205lbs. #5 ranked prospect in NJ in the 2017 class.

Yeah, not too surprising - his twitter activity had many JUCO connections. I could have this wrong, but I think JUCO allows him to play this fall and then find a new home in fall 2019 w/o having to sit out a year. If he bounced to another FBS school, he would have to sit out, losing another fall of valuable live action playing time.

Top QBs tend to go to the top schools, but the top schools are stockpiling QBs and some will transfer. In my opinion, the best shot UConn has at getting a top QB is through transfer as all of the QBs recruited to the top schools are not going to play. (Remember Zach Frazer who transferred from Notre Dame to UConn?)

Look at some examples of QB stockpiling:

Clemson:
#7 DT QB 2016
#2 PRO QB 2017
#17 PRO QB 2017
#1 PRO QB 2018
#3 DT QB 2019

Georgia:
#2 PRO QB 2016
#3 PRO QB 2017
#1 DT QB 2018

USC:
#5 DT QB 2015
#6 PRO QB 2015
#13 DT QB 2016
#4 PRO QB 2017
#2 PRO QB 2018

Arizona St:
#4 PRO QB 2015
#17 DT QB 2015
#14 PRO QB 2016
#94 PRO QB 2016
#1 PRO QB 2017
#14 PRO QB 2017
And the Clemson 2017 QB, Hunter Johnson, announced today he is transferring out. He is looking at teams in the Big 10 but will have to sit out a year.

Rumor is Purdue will be the landing spot here. Home state and he likes the upside of Purdue's Offense under Brohm. It would be a good spot for him IMO.

Seriously - CSU has good mojo going on.

we're about 7 or 8 weeks away before camp opens up.. still holding out hope we can grab another guy to add to Fines on our DL... along with another playmaker anywhere on the field..

Not sure if this link has already been shared, but it's the best one I've found that keeps track of who'd transferring where, or hasn't transferred yet and is in the process of potentially doing so.. It does focus a little more on Grad Transfers, but, it's better than most outlets out there:

He is from Aliquippa, PA, a little over an hour from IUP. Wants to remain pretty close to home....

Here's more info on Gray. Looks like he has 2 years after he sits out a year. And Brendan Devera is also leaving the program. Brendan made an official visit to UConn back in Jan 2017 before committing to Rutty three days later.

Rutgers linebacker Brendan DeVera and safety K.J. Gray dismissed from football team

Brendan DeVera, Rutgers, Fullback

Was just coming back to post... be interesting to see what the violations were.

DeVera was the UNH commit who decommitted, held offer, visited and then committed to Rutgers. Have to wonder if it was fit/talent/or unforgivable violation.

Yeah - agreed on the question of fit/talent or real violation. DeVera's brother just committed to Rutgers a couple weeks ago, so it will be interesting to see if that sticks.

His most recent twitter follows are coach cox, tre bell, and jamar summers...hopefully he doesn’t ask summers if it’s fun playing here lol

The article doesn’t position them as RKGs.

Wasn’t sure about the initial article but this one surely doesn’t.

Rutgers players under investigation for fraudulent use of credit cards

>>The probe -- which is being conducted by the Rutgers University Police Department -- could involve as many as eight players, NJ Advance Media has been told. NJ Advance Media is withholding the names of the players allegedly under investigation because no one has been charged.<<

I think we need to take more chances on guys who screw up. I’m honestly tired of the whole RKG thing. FAU takes plenty of those guys under Kiffin and he seems to know what he’s doing

If Randy rolls out a team that plays more physical, more crisp and smart, then he will have a better vantage point to sell transfers next spring. Right now, the jury is out. The emphasis on fitness and physical development needs to show results on the field this fall to demonstrate that Randy emphasis on effort can bear fruit. I'm not talking about wins, just playing quality football.

Agreed...

We keep playing the "you get no 2nd chances card" it might be a loooooong time before the light at the end of the tunnel gets here..

I'm posting this just because Cam Goode came from Saint Johns College HS where our recent commit Cameron Ross is at and Braden Bapst who we offered for the TE position. Also, Trey Williams is headed there this fall.

Anyways, what's kinda of interesting is that someone on twitter is indicating VT wont be welcome at SJC HS anymore. I guess some bad blood here. Story indicates that maybe Goode is not making the expected fitness effort.
