Jim Christian. He took a bunch of no rated players and took a program off life support. That and he looks like Gru and can bring minions to his staff. Bring back the youth fan base. Coaching in front of more than 10 people and having to deal with media that cares are the potential areas of concern.

Not saying Christian is the answer, but he has done a very good job at BCU bringing them back from the dead. To me, this shows that there are unheralded coaches out there who can coach and be successful at a high level program. It will take work to identify them and convince them to come here, but it isn't impossible like some here believe. DB needs to get someone (a consultant, search firm or whatever) to identify a short list of coaches ASAP if he hasn't already done so. Hurley may seem the obvious choice, but until you do your due diligence and check every possibility out there, you won't be sure and we can't afford to not be sure. Forget name recognition and where they are coaching today, just get the best coach we can find and let him pick his staff.

So far I've seen Karl Hobbs, Rick Pitino, Richard Pitino, 'lil Dicky Pitino, the corpse of Thad Matta, Kevin Freeman, Ricky Moore, JC, JC for a couple years w/Glen Miller as coach in waiting, various high school coaches nobody has ever heard of, Geno a million times, JTIII, JTIV, Becky Hammons, and probably others I'm missing.

Who's next? Dave Bliss doing anything? Gene Hackman retired from acting a while ago, he's available. Maybe Phil Jackson wants a new challenge?
I would get season tickets behind the bench if we brought in Becky Hammon.

What a ridiculous list, We need an experienced coach with recruiting connections. Stop hiring 2nd tier coaches.

I'm all in on Rick Pitino! I don't care if our recruits take money, are entertained by hookers on recruiting visits, or any other NCAA infraction. I simply just want to WIN again! Let's be real honest JC was no saint here when we at the height of our success.

Title says ludicrous.

Chris Bosh with a strong assistant staff all penny and brown!

Brad Stevens.

He’s from New England. Or he’s from somewhere else, but he’s in New England now. Anyway, he’s used to the traffic because you people drive like jackasses.

He knows a lot of the Celtics and other NBA players. He’s connected to the scene, as the young people might or might not say. I don’t know any young people, really.

He’s younger and he doesn’t ride bikes, so we avoid a lot of the trouble we had with Jim Calhoun. He’s familiar with UConn basketball because we tore his heart out in 2011 and he might think if he comes here we might give it back. His offense involves plays and doing things on purpose which is something we could use.

He’s quite wealthy already so he won’t mind working here for $350,000 and a sweet leased Accord. (10,000 miles a year, Brad, anything more and it’s 12 cents a mile. We are not made of gold here.)

Frank Vogel. For the same reason, except I like him better.

Georgia just fires Mark Fox and ESPN spews on for 5 minutes about what a great coach and person he is and how Georgia is a terrific job. This is 2 minutes after talking about Ollie and UConn. They spent the whole time talking about how UConn is not in their ideal conference, can’t recruit and the school is in the middle of nowhere...gotta love ESPN backing their state university in the state they reside

they were not nearly as negative as you're making it out to be. Bilas was pretty nice to us

One of the things I’ve never understood is this expectation that because their headquarters is in Bristol, they should be nicer to us than they would otherwise.

They clearly have some sort of bias (cough cough Newhouse cough cough) that I’d like to see pared down, but the whole “they should be nice to us because they’re located in the state” thing really isn’t a good rationale.

You must not have watched it then...I never said ESPN should be “nice” to us because they’re in CT. They also shouldn’t openly be lobbying for us to be in a non-football conference after they were part of screwing UConn in conference realignment. The last thing ESPN wants is another strong conference in football and b-ball...keeping UConn down is in their best interest from a media contract standpoint
