What kind of advice is Chukwu getting, if he's choosing between Providence and St. Joe's I just feel badly for him. Picking either one of those schools over UConn is just insane.

If the kid wants to go to a Catholic school, it's pretty obvious Georgetown is the choice.

It would seem like the obvious choice to me, G'Town has put a lot of big men into the league, Providence and St. Joe's have put out nobody.

Paschal will be quite fortunate to even have the same path as Josh Boone. All-stars, no. But certainly set for life finanically.

Josh Boone - earned 5.5 million in the nba
Hilton Armstrong - earned 9.5million
Emeka Okafor- 90 million guaranteed
Andre Drummond- 10 plus guaranteed, max potential
Hasheem Thabeet - 18 million guaranteed.

Loved Chukwa. Would love to get him. If he goes to PC I'd congratulate FriarJ and hope Facey, Nolan or Brimah can step up. I'm with BLUE, however and believe Chukwa will be better than the three UConn has in the stable.

I still want Abu more than Chukwa. Always did.

FriarJ you've been doing pretty good lately but to even throw you're hat in this ring proves a sever case of ignorance. Much like Chukwu the likes of Jake, Travis, Emeka, Josh, Armstrong and Hasheem all came in relatively unknown and out of the Top 100 some by a lot..........you do understand making it in the NBA was a long shot for these guys when they were 18 do you not? Well whether it would be an early draft choice or a couple or few years in the NBA it's still pretty impressive........now can we see your list? C'mon shouldn't take too long.......LOL

Providence probably can open more doors academically than UConn. Except when you're in the engineering, pre-law, medicine, etc schools at UConn you're doing something right. But most basketball players don't pursue money-making/job-heavy majors.

????????????????

Contrary to the myth (superiority of a catholic education) that many propagate, there is no way in hell that PC is superior to UConn academically.

I think the except for and then the list and then the etc, indicates he was being sarcastic.:)

Travis was ranked as high as #38 so saying he was unknown is not true. He became our center out of necessity not out of choice.

Now don't look them up, but has anyone ever heard of the following:
  • Karviar Shepherd
  • Eric Nika
  • Rob Upshaw
  • Erik Copes
  • Adjehi Baru
  • Aaric Murray
  • Ezekiel Marshall
These are recent ESPN Top 100 Centers who chose mid-majors as their colleges.

I heard of Copes. He was Karl Hobbs' last big recruit, he decommitted after GW fired Hobbs. Murray is kind of famous for his travails.

Not worried at all. I believe in Nolan (who looked like he was finally coming into his own at the end of last season) Brimah and Facey. Plus, if we save the scholarship and playing time we could go all in for top talent ... here's a list of some of the guys we're lining up for next years class and their ESPN rank...

F Ivan Rabb (1)
C Diamond Stone (4)
C Skal Labissiere (6)
C Stephen Zimmerman (7)
F/C Cheick Diallo (10)
F Carlton Bragg (13)
F Thomas Bryant (14)
C Moustapha Diagne (38)
F Bennie Boatright (49)

That's 7 - count 'em 7!! - in the top 15 and 9 of the top 50 with the chance to get huge minutes right away. I'm all in for next years class.

The traditional center has become a less important part of college (and NBA) offenses. I don't think this is a tremendous loss, especially if we can land someone like Abu who's a legitimate post presence but with a more versatile game.

I think Nolan as a junior and Facey/Brimah as sophomores can give us more than Chukwu at the center position.

If it's true (which I've suspected it would be for a while now), congrats to PC.

As I said, Cooley can recruit. It would have been nice to have gotten Chuckwu, but over the years we've lost all sorts of recruits and things work out just fine. If Cooley proves he can coach, they could become a player in the NNBE

Drummond will be one of the best centers in the league in 5 years. No one else that size can move like him. Literally no one.

We'd be lucky to get one of these players.

It's a big get for PC.

Thabeet had a huge impact on games at the college level.

it is going around that his guardian is pushing either Joe's (which i think his sister goes to also) or PC because the guardian has a kid at both schools.
