If he commits to PC, will you put a banner?

If I recall, there is plenty of space available.

It's a good idea...almost as good as putting up a plaque to acknowledge a very mediocre season

Here is the part where you lose credibility. You say you have zero (or at least little) knowledge of the NBA game and how Thabeet is doing. I so you are basing your comments solely on him in college. Calling him a stiff based on his freshman year might be a tad accurate but the two years after you would have I have zero idea about college basketball to call him a stiff. Again he was raw, but he wasn't a stiff.

Is there one in Gampel under the NCAAT Championship banners? All I know is that if Chukwu goes to PC I now get to call him a stiff unless he becomes national defensive player of the year and a top two pick in the NBA draft.

Painting ceilings? Herbert Hill, Marcus Douthit, Ryan Gomes, MarShon Brooks. All not exactly household names when they got to PC. All got drafted. Not to mention Kadeem Batts will get a look this year. PC can develop players. Don't pretend like UCONN is the only game in town.

Not a knock at Batts, who has gotten better) but I doubt he gets much of a shot at the NBA. He's a short center with limited athletic ability. He's strong as a horse though. The bigggest problem is how solid this draft class could be if everyone enters.

I'm not sure any of those guys are really household names right now. NBA/basketball junkies probably know of them to some extent but they aren't exactly on the tips of tongues.

"FriarJ, I hope you are just being smug ... cause this discussion is NOT even one in which PC has a chance of going more than 20 seconds. But ... for your review:

Are these guys all stars, because if true that's amazing

Josh Boone - decent 3 years or so in the NBA. Started for awhile. Not a certainty ever ... and he may make it back.
Hilton Armstrong - a good few years and made decent money. Never developed far beyond a good solid college player.
Emeka Okafor - very good Professional who made very good money for 9 years now. Averaged double figure points and nearly double figure rebound for almost his entire stay. Pretty good ROI
Andre Drummond - has a chance to be amongst the best NBA big men in the game within 3 years. And, I don't think that is hyperbole.
Hasheem Thabeet - A good comeback to the league with Oklahoma after much trials early. Has a chance to play going forward.

A Good Roster of guys.

seanmc94 is embarrassing himself with that list. Gomes doesn't belong with the others ... he doesn't play 4 or 5. And the rest are flotsam and waivers.

Stay focused here guys. We are discussing PC's ability to turn tall guys into ceiling painters CERTAINLY not NBA players. Think about it. The guy brought up Otis friggin Thorpe. What are the chances any recruit has an inkling of who he is, let alone where he went to college.

What does any of this back and forth have to do with Chukwu announcing for PC this week?

The back and forth with these PC trolls is just silly. We cast a much larger net and are involved with so many more elite recruits it's not even funny. Their program sucks so just ignore them. Even DePaul has a much better history. We have a top 30 recruit on campus tomorrow in Terry Larrier that's where our attention should be.

You keep coming back to this one, so you must really think you've got us here. Yes, we put up a plaque for a 20-10 season. All things considered, everyone here understands why. If there weren't banners to go with it maybe you'd have something, but you don't.

Honestly man, just roll on. We have nothing to do with one another anymore. It was a fun last 20 years. Sometimes you beat us in conference games, sometimes we won national championships to keep you relevant. You're welcome. Who knows what will happen over the next 20 years, maybe Providence will rise as the new UCLA. Great, congrats if you do. But find a good Villanova or Georgetown board to talk smack with. Those are your conference mates, maybe they'll care.

Actually, he can pick and choose - it's a UConn board.

Visiting fans get more leeway here than almost anywhere else, but they have to understand that they need not fight every single battle here. We don't need the counterargument to every single post that mentions Providence or Rutgers or Syracuse or whoever.

Does PC matter? To this board? Check the threads that you start. Not a ton of Cuse, Duke chatter. Wierd obsession with UNC rulebreaaking, other than that its PC

I'm having a hard time figuring out why I should care about Providence College and nothing in the last 8 pages of arguing makes me believe otherwise. If they land Chukwu, great, good for them. I don't care. You can't win every recruiting battle and I don't lose sleep over every mediocre college basketball team in some other conference full of teams I don't care about. I don't understand the compulsion of other UConn fans to constantly denigrate them.

We should be comparing ourselves to the Kentuckys, North Carolinas, and Dukes of the world because those are our peers.

I could not agree more. You can't win every recruiting battle. The value of a program is not based on the whims of a 17 year-old kid whose college choice is based on personal circumstance, and not always on prestige or the opportunity to win. Continuing to engage 2 PC fans who have endless time to troll opposing fan boards defending their school's honor only gives the apperance what we consider them an equal. Give credit where credit is due, Cooley has done an excellent job recruiting and infusing talent into that program. Maybe his work on the recruiting trail results in increased success, maybe it doesn't. Either way, they aren't overtaking Uconn as the powerhouse in the Northeast any time soon, and I think everyone here is pleased with the direction the program is going under KO.
