Also rumors that Boeheim is tight with the new AD, and wants 5 more years...

Not sure how it looks good at all. They are on probation, have scholarship restrictions, have a very weak class coming in. And their head coach in waiting, and their lead recruiter just left to take a job at a lesser school.

A national search to get the best candidate is better IMO than giving the job to Hopkins. Problem for Syracuse is Boeheim will want to coach until he's 80.

Boeheim's retirement announcement was most likely b.s. anyways. He was looking for sympathy/leniency from the NCAA so he made up some nonsense about retiring.

'I'm old and this is my last chance...please be nice to me'

This turn of events is embarrassing and pathetic for Boeheim and Cuse. They are like little children. They will say anything to get them out the moment's trouble. I'm retiring and one of my lousy ex players with no nba or coaching pedigree and looks like he spends his weekends in the Hamptons is taking over. What a crock. Cuse/Boeheim are totally exposed. Hopkins was used.
